  1. Thanks all, Will do. I have not been on in a few days. I did indeed get the file converted, thanks the the forum and I got a car to cut out. Not great mind you, but its a car Cassidy
  2. I really appreciate the input guys! I had some .025 aluminum I got at the hardware store and sort of experimented with the 1/2 round last week. I will try the ballend today and go from there. The issue I had with the 1/2 is it seems to "pull" the metal along. I think I will slow the toolpath and plunge speed down (keep hi rpm on the mill though) and see if it helps. The finish was rougher than I would have expected. Looked great in foam/wood, icky in metal! Cassidy
  3. Hello all, I am a teacher in Virginia that is a self-taught MasterCam user. We bought V7 years ago and it was clear as mud. The curriculum was to make a balsa wood car; not the best. Last year I dove into 10 and have had some great success getting students to use it. Now I want to move into milling metal on my Davinci 3 axis mill and have a question. .125 thick sheet aluminum and I want to do engraving. Do you think I should be using a half round cutter (60 degree or so) or a ball end mill? Any thoughts on which will last longer? Thanks in advance, I will try not to ask too many stupid questions... Cheers, Cassidy
  4. I wish I still had 7 available to me, alas they got rid of it....I can't install on the school network. Thanks for the offer John, I forwarded it to your email. Thanks again to all for your suggestions. I would like to sit down and write up some curriculum I use on the mill for you all. It is a simple project as far as milling goes but kids get into it! Cassidy
  5. Hi all, I am new to working in MC 3 dimensionally. I have been doing some engraving with the machine for some time but now would like my students to make some balsa CO2 cars. We have the curriculum for version 7 (and the template file) and I understand this version is not readable in my Version X2. Can someone with 8 or 9 convert the file for me? I am sure I will have many more dumb questions. I really want to learn more about 3D in the coming weeks. Thanks in advance, Cassidy Arlington Co. Pub. Schools
