  1. try converting 32676 to binary and you will see where the error comes from.
  2. youd need a single tooth threadmill, or 3 of every 4 teeth removed from a standard mill for this too.
  3. Hi Guys, I was just wondering if anyone has ever come across an error when they are trying to post an N.C. file for a Toshiba HMC. ( or any machine for that matter) Error: Select machine acheivable tool plane with Y axis Along Machine Y - Set and re-post. I'm not too familiar with loading and updating machine definitions so I'm a little fuzzy on this one. Thanks for the help.
  4. cant figure out how to get these to match. for the most part they are always 0. when i select a tool from the library id like offsets to match the tool. this is in x4 thanks
  5. x and y values are fine, but the z remains at zero. im trying to draw a line from z0.0 to z-. the x and y move but the z remains at 0. auto cursor does snap to the point i want, but z value is not registering. odd thing was it was fine 10 min ago. thanks this is x4
  6. have just forced myself to start using x3. ive been putting it off cause i didnt like how the verify looked and acted. (i know, not a good excuse) anyways, how can i make it act more like my x2 does. ive checked any settings that i know of, and they all look the same?? it seems to rotate diffent, and the shape 'changes' when you move the part (becomes more rectangular), also is jumps half off the screen when you start verify. prob something im doin wrong but... thanks mike
  7. x2 mill level 1 heres my problem. if, for example, i want to machine a 45 degree line on the end of a square part using multipass, obviously the first few cuts are mostly cutting air. the line length remains the same. is there a way to have masteram program these multipasses in relation to the stock ?? thanks
  8. having problems using multiple offsets. in the past ive just cheated my way though, but i need to force myself to learn this. basically two identical parts, just mirrored in diffent vises. ive tried toolpath translate. if i use the mirror tab my arcs are all f'd up, or it just mirrors and does not asign a new offest#. if i use rotate, it posts with an A axis move? and this gives me an error. i guess i could just mirror the geom... am i missing something,
  9. http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/showthread.php?t=166346 this is what i mean
  10. im threading some different npt holes, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 2. ive read that when the cutter travels up when cutting (even with a tapered t.mill) the arc must increase. i cant seem to get mc to do this. ive giving the thread taper angle, but it still posts the same as if i left it at 0. i know the threads are probably good enough....
  11. thanks for the responses guys. ive never worked with solids before, and had to get this machine moving. i ended up kinda doing what motorcity said. not sure how i did it, but the result was good enough! i hate teaching myself. lol
  12. x2 mr2 sp1 mill1 i am machinig a tube on an angle, and want to deburr on the machine. not sure how to draw this to get the correct ovals (id and od). 1.969 OD 1.378 ID 37deg angle off face. (the tube is held on an angle and then face milled) it will be a long night deburring by hand
  13. x2 mr2 mill level 1 can i program engraving on a shaft diameter with level one or do i need an upgrade. yes we have a 4th for the mill but havent used it yet. thanks
  14. x2 mr2 mill 1, lathe entry this is my first time programing a lathe part with mastercam. never had any problem when doing any mill stuff. mastercam is crashing when i backplot and try to zoom in or out. and it only does this in lathe, not mill. is it mastercam? computer? or me!! thanks
  15. im trying to rough 'v' grooves with a vnmg insert. ill see what i can do about a screen shot, not sure how to do it....
  16. im using rough/finish to turn the grooves, plunging is no good
  17. x2 mr2 sp1 lathe - entry im trying to machine grooves on the od of 5" 4140 they are 40 degrees included angle, with a 0.01 rad at the bottom. ive started roughing with a 0.031 rad tool and want to finish with a .5/64 rad tool. however, after roughing with the 0.031 tool, i want to 'remachine' like you can with mill, to take out the majority leftover with the .5/64 before i do a finish pass. i cant figure out how to do this. any help? thanks
