Hello, we have some tooling that needs .250 dia pockets in hardened D2 for a spanner wrench.
I would like to use a .250 carbide ball end mill and peck it to about .250 deep.
Any recommendations on feeds and speeds, peck amount would be very helpful.
Thank you!

Thank you...
I miss mastercam very much..
Is that with no tool comp?

Just noticed the GO..
Tool Im using is a 1/2" 12-32 TPI
Its a 4 flute single tip thread mill (.372 cutting dia)
This program looks like it for a full form thread mill..
Someone help with a program for a single tip?
One time project and this place doesn't have mastercam.
They have solid work/solid cam which im still learning

Hello, We recently purchased a Haas Mini Mill and a HA5C A axis rotary.Im not familiar programming the A axis and was hoping you could send me a sample program to go off of.Basically going to have several plastic rings on a mandral and need notched ever 45 deg. So I need the A axis to start at 0 deg, stop, then going to make a pass in the X, retract, index 45 deg, make a pass in the X, and so on, 8 times. So there will be 8 cuts (360 deg) spaced 45 deg from each other. Thanks for the help and please email me back for questions if I didn't explain this very well.Paul Felger

Thread milling 1.047-24 ID threads on the HASS.

Matl we are threading is actually a 2" 5c collet. pretty soft steel.
Thanks everyone!

I do know it is processed in Germany and sintered underground.
-
Turning it from a sleeve..
-
Material type is carbon graphite resin impregnated. It is compression molded and sintered for 3 months at 1200 deg.
That is all know about it. Received some samples on this stuff, one pc is about 1" OD and the other is 5/8 OD.
It was recommended to use diamond tooling to turn it. Order quantity is 60K for two different parts.
Any experience with this material would be greatly helpful. I will post for info once I receive it.
Thanks

for the lathe work turn off the coolant and try a shop-vac if you dont have any air hooked up... works well
-
ok.. Just tried contour tool path and everything is fine now.. Thanks a bunch! Would still like to know why the engraving didnt work...
-
Just rechained just the "F" and when i regen i get "open chains are ignored" and "not valid chains found. please select closed chains for contour"
-
Yeah i used letter... and i did chain window them. they are all hi-lighted with the correct arrow direction and i believe the parameters are set correctly also.. When i go to toggle or backplot that toolpath it is only doing the "O" I am using engraving toolpath and not contour..

Hello,
We machine plastic and I am looking for a low pressure vise for our HAAS MIll.
We have a few jobs that I am using a torque wrench set very low (5 lbs) to clamp very small plastic parts in a KURT vise. Works fine for me but some of the operators are having a difficult time feeling the CLICK and over clamping the part.
Was just seeing if anyone else out there has any experience or could recommend a pneumatic or hydraulic vise that would work at very low pressure.
Thanks
