  1. I use the Microsoft Paint program. For example, I use the "copy image to clipboard" function in MCX and window copy what i want, open "Paint" program and paste. crop as desired. I invert the colors so it doesnt print the black background, and sometimes convert to black and white then save to a folder. open Excel, use "insert picture from file", find your file and paste. drag it where you want it. p.s. if its a solid you want to copy, make sure to highlite yellow first, then copy. when you invert it will come out light gray in black and white mode. hope that helps.

  7. In need of some advice. working on a piece of c110 copper about 6.5 x 19.35 x 1.750. A lot of it gets hogged out leaving islands and pockets. The first time I did this job, rough out all features leaving .05 an all walls and floors. When it came time to finish features to size, the part warped big time. We had to bend parts straight on an a large arbor press before we could re-machine finish passes and it warped a little more. what a nightmare!!! now, we have 100 parts to make!!!!! Has anyone had this problem before and will an anealing procces help? Thanks for any advise.

  14. WOW! 400sfm sure seems fast for 40rc steel. but, ok..... I dont have airblast on machine but a air gun works too. is coolant ok to use or will it shorten the tool life? thanks for the input.
  15. I have to make some fixtures using kapstar mold steel. Can you guys give me some advise on machining it and most importantly the SFM to cut it . it comes pr-hardened to 40RC. Thanks guys!
  16. It's a 1 time mod from the customer so I'm making a fixture with mitee-byte uniforce clamps (and a torque wrench.)
  17. Greetings All, I would like your opinions. I'm modifying some parts that will be held in a fuxture and need to skim off .004 off the top. Parts are .06 thick and a little flimsy in some areas. I dont want the parts to suck up so what will have the least amount of tool presure, a (new)1/2 carb end-mill or a 1.5" 2 flute (aluminum cutting) face mill with fresh inserts thanks
  18. Sounds Like I better hit the books! I am going to a 1 week training class so thats better than just trying to learn out of the manual. Thanks for the feedbak
  19. Hi guys, does anyone out there use PARTMAKER and how does it compare to MCX. I use MCX3 mu1 for mill2 and 3d work but we have partmaker for lathe work. The main reason for partmaker was for a Kitamura mill-turn we got and 1 citizen screw-machine. Unfortunately for me the guy that knew it somewhat is no longer at my shop and now I have to learn it. I dont like the interface but as long as it works.....
  20. Thanks for the replys guys! any info helps.
  21. Hello everybody, Can anyone please give me some tips and or pointers on milling, drilling and tapping TORLON 5530. I have researched the web but info is too vague. looks like this stuff is abrasive. On a particular feature, I need to drill a .120 dia hole all the way thru a part that is 6.685 thick. It is ok to drill from both sides but what is the best drill point to use? .118 or .135. I do plan on using a split pont carbide drill to start and a longer drill to finish. Any info is much appreciated. thanks guys
