  1. I downloaded the latest driver for my Quadro FX540 I set a restore point before installing. I'm glad i did! Mastercam wouldn't even completely load using that driver. I'd just get the Mastercam's send an "Error Report" dialogue frown.gif so I'm back to where I was. I'm not going to worry to much about this anymore, my new box is being ordered next week:

    Core 2 Quad Q6600

    ASUS S775 P5E3 Core 2 board

4 Gig ram (realising the limitations running 32bit op)

    Quadro FX 1700

    XP pro

Any comments on this config much appreciated before I place the order smile.gif

  2. Hi Bruce, I'm glad to see i'm not the only one with the white screen issue. I tried to take a snapshot of the screen in this state and I couldn't get an image. I'm not glad to see you have this issue with a Quadro FX1500 card though frown.gif I was hoping this problem would disappear with a card like that. This most definately is a MC graphics issue.

  3. I never had an opportunity to see if it helped the crashing issue because Mastercam was nearly unusable with that setting changed. For me the crashing happens erratically. I can open the file normally on one occasion or it will crash on another. As mentioned above i'm using a NVIDIA Quattro FX540. I realise this card is a entry level card and plan to go to a midrange FX1700 with a new machine we are having built. As always cost is an issue frown.gif

Does this happen if you disable hardware acceleration in Mastercam's Settings->Configuration Screen?

I tried that at it runs terrible, dynamic rotation is erratic and slow so have changed it back. I often get a white screen when I am opening files. This is usually files that have toolpaths on them. Also when i am writing a toolpath and i change to another task the Mastercam screen will be white when I return to it, and slowly the toolpath generation will reappear. This has always been a problem in version X right from the outset. Does anyone else have these graphics issues with mastercam? As always comments appreciated

  5. I often get an exception error and Mastercam crashes when opening largeish files. If I open the files unshaded I have no problems. Happened on MR2 and also happens with MR2 SP1? System is Pentium D 3.2ghz, 2gig Ram, NIVIDA Quattro FX 540 video. I'm getting a new box in a few weeks and after browsing the Benchmark thread its going to be Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4gig Ram Quattro FX 1700 video. Any comments much appreciated

This is a bug in MR2. I have the same problem and sent it in during Beta testing only to find it wasnt fixed in the release.

Thanks Ed, so looks like we'll have to wait until another patch is released and maybe it will be addressed then??

Ok I've changed the setting to Prompt - Always and use MCX file name instead of previous operation name. Now I just have to substitute the MCX name with the file name I want each time I make a new operation which is basically what I was doing before anyway.

After working some more this morning I'm not finding this method ideal at all.

I still want to be able to have a prompt for the first operation and then be prompted for a file name on subsequent operations as well ie SP1. Any suggestions?

  9. Hi guys, Haven't been on here for some time but of course the opportunity always arises when there is an upgrade tongue.gif I've just upgraded from X2 SP1 to MR2 (I tried MR1 but had graphics problems so went back to SP1) I did a fresh install of MR2 and everything has been working fine so far smile.gif

One thing I have found though is that even though the configuration settings for the Toolpath Manager are exactly the same as my SP1 setup it won't ask me for a NC file name on the first operation. It defaults to the MCX file name. But on subsequent ops it asks me for the name. Anyone finding this and/or is there a fix.

Any suggestions help much appreciated cheers.gif

  10. The toolpath isn't the problem because I only want the files for a Design seat. The Design seat hasn't got a maintenance contract so we may have to look into that or buy an upgrade to X2 for that seat.Anyway thank you for all the input my question has been answered

    Cheers

  11. hey guys..

I received my X2 CD and books today. My question is can you open the new MCX format files in an older version of X? We have a Design SP2 SIM with no maintenance contract as well as two MR2 seats. We need to read the files I create on that version.

    Any help much appreciated.

  12. We plug our sims directly into USB slot in PC. Changing slots made no difference. We only ever had the problem on one computer thats why we put it down to being computer specific. Once we reformatted and installed a fresh MR1 we no longer had the problem.

  13. We only ever fully sorted this problem out on the computer in my office by reformatting the hard drive and installing MCAMX MR1 on its own. All we could put it down to was that there were conflicts with older HASP drivers installed from earlier versions of Mastercam.

  14. gcode,

Our USB SIM is plugged straight into back of PC. I have removed MR1 from that computer and reinstalled SP1 update 3 and so far no problems with disconnected SIM error. This is definately a MR1 issue. QC haven't replied to my emails yet.

My PC has a parallel port SIM and I have had absolutely no problem with MR1 Go figure!!

  15. Hi J. Coe

We use TNCremoNT as well but use the ethernet setup. It works like a dream and was easy to setup. Two of our Heidenhain contollers TNC 426/430 have only 10mbit cards and the newer TNCi530 100mbit fast ethernet. I was able to get a transfer rate on the slower two just as fast as the TNCi530 by using the built in converter to convert ASCII code to binary format as it sends the code. All you need is a network card on your PC, create an IP address and put that address into your controller. If you are using an older model Heidenhain controller you will make a massive saving in transfer time if you set up the ethernet. e.g a file that would normally take 10 minutes to send will be there in 30 seconds.

  16. We're still getting this "HASP has become disconnected, Mastercam will shut down..." error and its becoming very annoying.

There are definately no problems with the USB ports on the computer. It is only happening on the seat with a USB lock, and its only been happening since MR1 was installed. I've contacted my reseller and he just tels me to email [email protected] banghead.gif
