  1. Thanks Guys, I had played with the 'Gauge Check' but was unsure if this is what i should have been using. I made the assumption, don't know why, that this was more for fixture/hardware avoidance. When i tried these earlier i had the tool shooting to places i didn't want but i think i just had my settings wrong. Thanks all for the help and conformation. Much appreciated, John
  2. Think i may have described wrong tool path. It is an Advanced Multiaxis - 5-Axis Multi Surface. This seems to only give me the option under the second tab, Surface paths, the 'Drive surfaces' button. The only options I seem to get are for drive surfaces. Thanks for the quick reply but i lead you astray. Cheers
  3. I have started using multisurface tool paths in X2 and i am unsure if check surfaces are available. May be a dumb question but are they available and where? Thanks all...
  4. dummy file uploaded ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MCX2_Files/Back Chamfer.MCX Will have a go at that tonight Steve...wish me luck
  5. I have a dummy file but am having difficulty uploading it. I will try and get it on asap. JDowe it would be great if you could send me the file... thanks in advance.. Walmer
  6. Hi all, Here is one for the guru's out there. I have a tube on a 4 axis that needs some slots thru. The tube is about 150mm o.d with a wall thickness of about 5mm. The slot is approx 20mm vertical with 3.8mm radius ends. Now not to bad but slot is offset almost to the outer edge of the tube. Imagine standing up the tube on a horizontal machine and coming in central ie x0 and producing the slot, now move over in x about 60mm and doing the slot there. Hope that makes sense. Ok now for the hard bit.... back chamfering. I have tried all different types of cutter paths but have had nil success. From previous posts i see the surface finish flowline is the way to go and using a lollipop cutter but i am having all sorts of difficulty getting any usable program. Anyone have any suggestions or advise, or better still an actual sample file to show me the way.... Cheers Walmer
  7. Bit more info if it helps. Intel dual core 6700 @ 2.66 Ghz, 3.25GB ram, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500, XP Professional.
  8. oops,,, did i say vericut, i meant mcads verify true solid simulation.
  9. I have recently upgraded to X2 with the current patches installed and am not sure if the following is the norm now. During vericut i can stop and rotate the graphics with no loss of graphics, however when verify has completed and i rotate the part then the part 'breaks up' on edges and it is impossible to see finer detail. Once you exit rotation then it comes ok. I still have v9.2 on the same computer with no problems verifying. Tried to find info on this but i see nothing, or I'm just not looking in the right place? First post so take it easy on me if this is a no brainer
