  1. Working at home are you? I am glad to here Tony Training went well. Thanks John for all you have done.
  2. Tim I am not a vericut user thats why i am asking here. If I can't verify the code we are right back ot square one proving out are code at the machine line by line. I am finding out that all of you seem to be setting your controls the same. Thank you for looking. I am in hopes that the next meeting that I have with the owner and supervisor will be a eye opener for them in that all shops that use a cam packaged with or with out Vericut let the Cam do its Job.
  3. Thanks John, You are Probably right. However if I don't beat this thing to death my boss will think I am being negitive against change! I wish that I could convince him but he has had this Idea for over 10yrs now and he has two people on the floor willing to fight to get it done.
  4. Thanks Guys, I agree, however the owner is the one really driving this. He wants the endless hours to stop at proving out the programs. We have 14 soon 15 lathes here with two full time programers. When I was hired they wanted me to follow the Sr lathe programer format. He is really good however he drafts & trigs everything (this is with comp in the program) then types the code in by hand. You all know what can happen. I was asked then to get a cam package up. I tried using Gibbs but they only have two ways to do any thing. I then asked to switch Mastercam right after that is when the push started with Cutter Comp. So I would like to anyone here that uses Vericut if that software would prove the program out in (Control Comp)? I would like to hear from end users. Thank you
  5. Hello to All, I am in the process of programming a job that the Owner and the floor Supervisor want posted with CONTROL Compensation on a Mill Turn. I am having a lot of difficulty proving out each path because the lathe operations don’t handle that. I am STRONGLY convinced that Computer or Wear comp is the way we should go. This would be easier for the guys on the floor and I can prove my paths out with confidents. How does Vericut work in those settings?
  6. Curt, Have you looked into probes, with a pre-define feature on each fixture the probe would then identify the fixture and call the right program.
  7. Hello to all, How does the Post handle coolant commands are they tied to "cantext" or serate? I ask this because the info I readed on MP allows ten "Cantext" at once. Whether before, with, or after.
  8. I am impressed with the X+ Tool sheets that are available. Has anyone started or have one that could be used for a lathe?
  9. Hello to all and thank you to those that have responded to my cutter compensation question on the lathe. Does anyone know when the machines started having the G41 and G42 options? I was under the impression that this can into play as soon as CNC took over the NC machines. Is this so and what time frame did this come about? I have been on CNC at the start of my career back in “85” the oldest machines that I have ran was a Cincinnati Milacron (Tape NC machine) and a Warner Swasey Lathe (Tape NC convert CNC). The oldest CNC Machine was a Mori SL-4 with a 6T control which had the option.
  10. quote: Solidworks IS capable of doing this Use Utilities >> compare geometry John, you need Solidworks Office Pro or Premium to do this.
  11. quote: • What type holder is used for rigid tap? Positive drive holder, normal collet chuck holder? Which is better? http://www.tapmatic.com/ Tapmatic has what they call a Synchroflex. We have found that most machines have an issue when reversing the spindle the Z axis will feed ahead or behind the lead of the tap. Especially if you are tapping a 3B pitch. You may want to look into this, if your machine has any age or if you run into pitch is going oversized on you.
  12. I am a new user with MasterCam. I switch from using Gibbs, my main complaint with them was only one or two choices to do anything. If you recall Gibbs pride and slogan is “Powerful Simple, Simply Powerful”. Well I am not trying to bash Gibbs, but I fell in love with MasterCam ability to change with whatever flavor I decide to use with or without Cutter Comp (G41 or G42). My reseller has been great to work with and has been right there to support me. However I have found that the lathe Package is limited in its use of G41 and G42 specially with Control Comp. I have over 20yrs on Lathe mostly. In that time only 1 shop that I worked in used control comp and they did their programming on line at the machine. So my question is how many of you, using MasterCam use Control Comp in your lathe, or do you stay clear of this?
  13. Hi Paul, I have a couple of question? do you have the Rad in the drawing? or are you using the corner break Filter in the lathe finish properties? If so what is the angle of the bore if any, other then a 90DEG corner? Jerry B
