  1. Crazy, I know there is no comparison to running aluminum or Ti. We know that having everything as rigged as possible is the key. We have a repeat Ti.job now that runs about 4 hours total now, The 1.00 dia Hanita 4mor rougher we use does most of the roughing it runs about 1.5 hours per part but at approx 250 bucks a cutter we think we could do better. We do have the ends reground so we can reuse the tool. We are just trying to get a feel and see if there is a better cutter on inserted tool out there.
  2. i don't see the motion in backplot or verify. Right now i have tools programed with 200 SFM using .125 carb and .0625 carb to clean corners
  3. Just a simple question here. This is the first time i have tried to use ramping feature in a slot. I have a .1875 x.1875 x5.1875 long slot to do in stainless 304 what would be some good starting parameters? And when you verify it it looks like it just plunges i.m not seeing the zig zag motion in verify. Thanks Barry
  4. Oh sorry we just got the quote for it today. I was just wanting to make sure that is what we are needing. I kinda feel like Dead Money in his post wearing all kinds of hats and not getting enough time to learn the Mastercam softwear i've been at it for about 10 months now and might get about 20 percent of my time that i can program and it doen't help that i have no one here that can help me. I've had about 3 3day classes with a teacher that helped but just not getting enough face time to learn everything.
  5. where is the anotations set at?
  6. we usually get CATPart, CATProduct, CATDrawings . We do have a Catia Converter for mastercam from our reseller and can open CATpart files and see the model but all i can get from that is a basic stock size for quoting. Am i missing something in that converter? another thing is when i downloaded X3 my converter is still in X2 so i still use X2 to open the files. How do i go about geting the convertor into X3. As for the plm express we just qouted it we dont have it yet they want 10,000 for it
  7. Hello everyone. Does anyone here know anything about Catia V5 PLM express for manufacturing? What we are running into is we are getting files from some customers to quote on and all they send is a Catia model info and no prints to determine any hairy areas of the part ,tight dimentions ,true posistions and so on . I need to know if this is what we need to get all info out of the dataset to be able and pull into MC3 and program a part to print. any help or ideas would be great. Thanks Barry
  8. Thanks i will give that a try . I would take you up on the offer but i need a few dozen opened up. I can open up the catpart file in X2 mr2 we just need a print to go with it.
  9. Hi everyone , Does anyone know what kind of file reader i would need to be able and view a CATIA5.CATdrawing Thanks Barry
  10. We had a trial version of catia tranlater codes a few months ago , the company decided to buy the codes this time around and i was able to just plug the codes in on X2 mr2 sp1 , now we have X3 and i need to get the Catia on it. Can anyone tell me how to get to catia threw X3 . Thanks in advance Barry
  11. Makino HMC all the way . We have an A61 with 218 tool crib and a A71 with 300 tool crib. When it's set up correct and off center of rotation for WCS setups are a breeze. We have part quantitys from 1 up to 100 on the average, but once the job is setup and proven it's money in the bank. We also use the Technigrips we have 10 spread throughout our 12 pallet cell system.
  12. The first company i worked at had an A55 . Where i'm at now we have a 12 pallet cell system with an A61 cat 40 and A71 cat 50 plug in. Both are tooled up to run any pallet into whichever machine is available using a macro at the beginning of the program that determins what offsets to use. But in the big picture the 55 had a spindle that could take a beating and keep on cutting but thr 61 /71 spidels don't seem to hold up as well . all in all good machines.
  13. Cobra, Are you using that tool for roughing or finishing?
  14. Mornin every one, I have a question about feed and speed for Ti alloy 6-2222 this is a fracture critical material. the programming was done by another company for us so our hands a tied a bit as far as changing the tool size. What we are using now is a Hanita TM4M1R25018A 1" Dia. cutter. Max depth of cut is .500 , we are going through a cutter per part and this is not to profitable. Any suggestions on tool brand or just making this one better will be helpful. Thanks in advance Barry
  15. Hi all. I've been a member for a few weeks now and have been lurking through the post and seeing what there is to see. Looks like alot of good info. I have been givin the opportinity to learn to program with OJT , draw back is no one here to help show me the ropes. There has been many trials and errors. I've been buying tutorials and going through them. I was looking and found the Streaming teacher on the emastercam site and was wondering if it is worth the time and money or is there a more informative site. Many thanks for any info.
