Would it be beneficial to add 3d to our mastercam to generate paths to do this and what geometry does it understand as far as doing undercuts.
Thanks Canuk

Ya we are using X5 now I may have programmed the rough & finish separetly I'm not sure now I'll have to wait till it comes up again and try it together and see if the speed changes.
Thanks Tom

WE try to run at a constant surface speed all the time on one of the lathes. But Mastercam sticks a finishing speed in where i don't want it,it didn't ask me for a change in the prameters.Does anyone know a way around this would be much appreciated Thanks

Anyone have a good combination for this stuff

Thanx at least it's not just me.I thought possibly it might be the tolerances in X4 that might need tightening I'll see what the dealer says.

Is anyone else getting unacceptable variences with the entities using this option. If so do u know why or how to fix this. Thanx Tom

How do u do that. And if i do what happens

Hi I,ve managed to merge the two files but when I do it overwrites Layer 1.How can I import a stock file to its own level.X3

Is it not better to use the same angle as the thread and go a little larger than the major dia.
-
What geometry should I apply ie;45deg or 60deg or 30deg and how big.
-
Our Engineers are not puting chamfers on the models to protect the threads leaving it up to our discretion. What is the best way to chamfer all these different kinds of threads. Thanks Canuk
