I work at spec tool. I am trying to follow a helix on a solid created on inventor, it is a reamer with 30 deg helix and 15 deg rh helix and 15 deg lh helix on same part, it is a tappered reamer. I have been trying to run toolpaths on it for a week now, if i run a rolldie the cutter always wants to go to center of part and only travels in x,z, and a. I need it to go in x,y,z and a. I am really frustrated with it, it should be alot easier to lay toolpaths on it. you should be able to pick a surface and orient the cutter to the wall on the solid you need, but it doesnt. I NEED HELP. I have tried every kind of toolpath we have on mastercam and everytime i do rolldie or unroll 4th axis, it will not travel the way i want, i have tried to pick out entiites from solid and transform them with unroll, this does not work either, I am new to the forum I am not sure if i will get a reply or not, and yes spec tool has a valid edition of mastercam 9.1. i have been programming at spec for over a year, i have not run into a problem like this one, it should be easier to do.
