  1. Thanks for your reply. Yes dual monitors on both hps. Yes there are control boxes in the ATI , so I`ll look at these and the video performance pages. It`s still a bit of a mystery that Mastercam is OK for one user but not for another on the same computer.........
  2. I have Mastercam x4 mu2 and I run both Wire and Mill. Around about the time of the mu2 uprgrade I also "cross graded" from Autodesk Inventor 2010 to the Professional version and the graphics driver was updated. Computers are hp xw 6600 workstations with Intel Xeon quad cores 8 gb ram and the graphics ATI FireGL V5600 512Mb. These 2 run XP pro 64 and are networked to a XP 32 pro. License is by way of nethasps. The problem I have as Default User on both workstations is that some of the normally dockable dialogue boxes eg chain manager, offset etc always return right in the middle of the graphics screen. Also if I start a drawing command eg a line I get a momentary flash of the ribbon bar and again when I exit the command. I have tried 1) rolling back the graphics driver, 2) Toggling "Do not reset" / "Reset" in "reset" in properties from the mcamx4 control panel applet; to no avail. I`m aware that there were issues between ATI cards & Mcam I understand that the UK agents have sought help from CNC Inc but so far I`ve not heard back. I mentioned this to the CAD firm that sold me Inventor & one of their Techies suggested creating a New User with Administrative rights, which I duly did and Mastercam works fine. Does anyone know for sure what is happening and what to correct in the Default User? : Is it a registry issue ? and if so, does anyone know the Mastercam dialogue boxes by number and description so I can tinker perhaps. My guess is that it may be a permissions issue or other blocking write back of the screen co-ordinates to the registry, but both users do have Administrative rights. I really would appreciate some help with this problem which must be the most annoying one I`ve had since problems machining multisurfs in v5..........
  3. I have X4 wire and am wondering if anyone knows how to get x3 or x4 to reflect a change in land thickness in the post proc file, for a given backing off taper angle - I normally use 1 degree for press tools I get the same post values if the land thickness is set to 1mm or 5mm or anything, which I don`t think is correct as you would expect the contour at the xy zero plane to close up with increased land thickness (eventually fishtailing in extreme) I am using the Agie generic 123 4 axes post as shipped with x3/4. I`d be very grateful for help..
  4. ELECTROFORM Since 1972 Hi Thank you very much. I have found the problem was that I was keying in the data without hitting the return key by moving the mouse to another parameter`s field - the rule seems to be that you must hit the return key to update the other parameters : You can`t rely on a mouse movement as acceptance of data, it seems, for these C / C++ applications By the way if anyone wants C program that EORS posts for ISO format e.g. Agie wireroders they can have it free by emailing me: I wrote it when we had mc5. You just drag the post e.g. YOURFILE.NC onto an icon on the taskbar & it will make YOURFILE.ISO suitably eored Again thank you for your help. Kind Regards Tim Nicholson
  5. John I have tried entering:- # teeth=40 PD=80 Pressure angle = 20 Deg The result is 2 circles with regular "V"s i.e. tooth thickness has not been changed. I cannot find a way of sending you a screen picture / bmp - perhaps someone can help with this
  6. I normally back dies off at 1 Deg. So if you change the land thickness parameter you should see a change in the post as the position of the start of tapers would change, but sadly, and after scrapping a couple of dies, no change in post. Would this mean the nci does not change either ??
  7. Thanks for the reply I have several metric gears to cut starting off with 40 teeth 80mm PCD (i.e. Module 2.0) 20 deg pressure angle That should give OD of 84, circular tooth pitch of 6.28 tooth thickness of 3.14 but when I enter the data I get something that looks like a flying saucer - what should I enter say in this example ??
  8. Hello I`m new to the forum as of today. I have a problem with wire 9 in as much that if I alter the land thickness on a taper cut the corresponding taper change is not reflected when posting (in my case Agie wire eroder). I did report this about a year or 2 ago but heard nothing back. Can anyone help me with this please??
  9. Hello I`m new to the forum as of today. I wonder if anyone knows how to make the chook gear work in v9. If I change say, the # of teeth from the default 48 to 100 all I get are overlapping teeth, whereas the software says it will recalculate some of the parameters - in fact i have tried altering all sorts but do not get any recalculations. I notice the c hook was written in v7 I have 2 seats wire 9.1 sp2 and mill 9.1 sp2
