  1. i don't think the migration will work from X4 to X6 because the migration utility grabs the files from MY MCAMX5 and Shared MCAM X5 and that is not how the install for Mastercam X4 was structured. You could however use the update folder utility.

  2. I just received a Dell Precision 4600 Windows 7 64 Bit Laptop with the Nvidia Quatro 2000M Card.

    I have not had much luck with it so far. First issue i had was the drivers where causing the menu selection and rotating of the part to leg behind and freeze for a couple of seconds. Then i had found a driver update on the Web which seemed to have fixed the freezing so far but noticed a lot of images/words where cut off in the menu as well as overlapping images. Even selecting wire frame at time would not highlight.

  3. Hello Kurt

    I would first find out the most recent version of Mastercam you can run. Previous to X5 Mastercam offered 2 ways of simulating your toolpath. Backplot and verify, verify which basically allows turns your stock that you specified into a solid model and simulates material removal among other features, and backplot with simulates the actual toolpath displaying your depth of cuts, multipasses, and machine time etc.

    Now with X5 Machine SIM was introduced which uses verify and backplot for a full machine simulation so you can watch the machine model cut the part to detect any collisions. Mastercam comes with a bunch of generic machines.

    Check out the books in the Store section they could be a great addition to your course and will walk through all 3 simulation features.

  4. You could try to disable the Hardware Acceleration in the system config (ALT+F8) under screen usually this is for graphic related issues but would not hurt to try. Or you could try playing around with the memory buffering in the sytem config under toolpaths.

    Other than that it sounds like a computer related issue. Maybe ask IT if they will uninstall and re-install on one of the computers to see if that helps (make sure it has full read and write privileges) if the issue still occurs then that may narrow it down to a more computer related issue.

    Good Luck.

  6. If none of the above has worked. Try going into your nethasp.ini files in the McamX folder. Look for NH_server_adder take out the ;; in fron of that and place your server IP address beside the = sign and save the file example:

    You might have done this already but just making sure.

    NH_SERVER_ADDR = 2.266.95.556

  7. If your comfortable teaching the course yourself the Mastercam instructor kit might be suitable as well it basically maps out your lesson plans for you provides videos, tests, exercises, PowerPoint presentations, instructor guide, and student training tutorial. Mill level 1 and 3 $195 include lathe $225.

    It may be a good addition to the above mentioned as well.

  8. Hello,

    Is any material name ex: ALUMINUM inch 2024 listed under Material when you select the tool setting tab?

    Also press select then beside source select the drop down arrow and select Mill-Library will anything appear then?

  9. I think that the Solids Sweep command was only intended for 1 dimension or in this case 1 radius which is why the end of the spout is not tappering in. The Solids loft command was intended for tappering 2 different dimensions but only on a straight course and not a course with courves.

    Best regards,
