  1. Thanks to CNC Software for the update on the survey. I think the thing I have missed the most has been the Setdir C-Hook, and I will be glad to get it back.

I think a second survey would be good before you make too many changes because things that we had issues with at first may not be as much of a problem now. Maybe put more time into videos like the intro to MCX that CNC had done, there is a lot of information in there that can be learned by watching it several times.

  2. We ditched v9 a month after X came out when we got new 64bit computers. Didn't even try to load v9 because after a month of playing with X we knew X was where we wanted to be. We did't go to any training did't have time, too much work. The basic concept is the same for X as it was for v9

just had to get use to a different interface.

I'm 48 and been working in mold shops for close to 30 years. I don't think age has anything to do with being able to learn new things. Most of the things I do no one has taught me, I had to teach my self. If its not that way others then I would say their not at the top of their trade.

Came across a mastercam dealers web site that had a saying on sending people to training that I know to be true.

    will get a dud back.

MCX is not that hard to learn. Keep a positive attitude, look for help here on the forum if you need it, and don't give up.

  3. MCX level 3, solids, moldplus and that great setup sheet from the guys at InterCAM.

Everything is coming together now and I think it is faster in both cad and cam. It is also very stable on our 64bit systems. Been using X only since mid Sept.

  4. Do a search on 64bit. MCX runs very stable on the 64bit OS. There are hasp drivers. Never tried to load v9 we don't use it any more.

    Level 3

    Solids

    Mold plus

Could not get update 3 to load but I think that is a windows installer problem. Haven't had time to mess with it.

2 new forum members this month to post only in this thread starting on the day they registered.

    Welcome?

Paid maintenance twice now and seen alot of benifits from it. Like not having to wait a year and a half for new releases.

X is great been using it since it came out and it gets better every day.

  6. What's your spindle speed. If you have a high speed spindle and your using collet chucks the collets could be worn out and might need to be replaced. Drop one on the floor it may look ok but finish will start to suffer.

  7. Just got 2 new 64bit computers up and running. There are new drivers for hasp on aladdin's web site. downloaded and installed Hasp HL driver setup.zip and Hasp HL driver cmdline.zip

Click ok any error messages. When you update to sp1 you will get an error message, click ok you then get another error ignore and wait a few min. and it goes away. Goto start>mastercam x>Hasp setup and reload drivers. Mastercam Mill SP1 should show at top of program as current version. Seems like the key to getting it running is to ignore error messages.

    Big difference in speed.

    Dual Xeon 64bit 3.6GHz

    Quadro FX 4400 graphics card

    4GB ram.

2 Dell 20in. flat panel ultrasharp monitors

  8. Bryan's mmouse chook works great use it all the time in v9 along with F2 but the wheel in MCX (spin and zoom)doesn't work the same as it does with Bryan's chook.

John MCX is our software by choice but some of the things we had before we think worked better. Just letting CNC know what we think works best.
