  1. Hey guys, Does anyone have a post for the above machine? We are in the process of buying this piece of equipment but have no post for it for MasterCAM. This is our first DMG and our first Siemens control and it seems like a big change from the Haas and FANUC we are used to. Thanks!
  2. i know how to do subprograms for depth cuts and multiple copies, but not the way i explained above.
  3. i took that and it wasn't covered anywhere else i can go?
  4. hey guys, we're used to using subprograms (in the main program) with most of our hand written code.. so something like this: t1m6 (rough) g0g54x0y0g97s100m3 m97p1000 t2 (finish) ... blah blah m97p1000 t3 (chamfer) ... m97p1000 m30 n1000 (code) m99 is there a way to do that in mastercam? the code ends up a little more compact and easier for him to call up a certain operation... also we deal with parts with multiple operations. So we might work on one side and then flip it over and fixture it to work on the other side...when we do that the zero might change... we wanted to get all of those in one program. any ideas on how to do that in mastercam? i know this might sound confusing so let me know if you need more details... thanks, manoj
  5. Has anyone here machined adelite? It's a rare mineral. I got a drawing from a customer, but I've never heard of adelite, and i'm not sure if it is machineable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  6. this isn't mastercam related, but i tried posting on cnczone and i haven't gotten any responses yet.. . i hit feed hold midway through a tool change... this gave me an alarm that i couldn't get rid of. i turned off the machine and turned it back on and the alarm wouldn't go away. Finally, i hit feed hold, machine lock, and spindle stop at the same time and the alarm disappeared. However, now if I call up tool 5, tool 8 comes up. Any idea how to fix this? Thank you! Manoj
  7. i'm working with some 4130 material and i'm not getting a good finish. I'm using a roughing tool taking .05 depth of cut and leaving about .015" for my finish tool. I'm running at around 1000 rpm for rough and 1400 for finish. feed rate is .008 for rough and .004 for finish. I'm running a little slower than i normally would because the part begins to vibrate at the higher rpms. Its a square piece with two cylindrical ends. I'm turning it after the milling has been done. The diameter is ~.5 and the tolerances is +-.0003. Thanks.
  8. I have to groove the face of a copper part in this shape. What kind of grooving tool do you guys recommend? Also how do I draw that tool in mastercam? I often make my own tools, but I can't program with mastercam lathe because I can't draw those tools.
  9. alright, that's what i figured. Any advice or tips on chasing the thread on a manual machine?
  10. so we were working on some parts with an internal thread that had to be .900 deep. We made five parts before we realized that the thread was only .75 deep. Is there a way we can put this back on the machine or is it going to mess up the thread that is already there. The ID is 4.5" so we're using a threading tool. Do they make taps that large? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  11. Pay is based on experience level. Benefits: Medical and dental full coverage paid vacation, sick days, holidays What is a top team player?
  12. lol well regardless, is anyone interested in a job opening?
  13. lol, i can hold .0001 on my SL-30 all day long for pharmaceutical parts. It's all about how well you set up and fixture everything and how you machine it. Also, our mics can measure that without a problem.
  14. You guys are funny... We don't have much trouble maintaining that on our HAAS machines, but if you are picky we have a Hitachi lathe and a Mazak mill too.
