  1. Thanks Newbeeee & CNC Apps Guy 1, I guess what really torques me of is when I found out that there was a post available from In-House for our MX2500ST, I was told by Doosan that this post was proven out as a joint venture between Doosan & In-House for the machine. As I would expect to do some minor editing with the code as with any other lathe post I have worked with. I would have expected that after we paid the thousands of dollars for this post, it should have been right on the money with no editing. This is not the case at all and I have become an un-happy camper. How many more thousands of dollars and time I don't have will it take to get this post modified. I feel like I've been setup as a fool. I don't see this machine as being this complicated and I know what I want to do with it and I can write my own G-code. My problem is getting M/C to to do it. As using evey version of M/C since V8 and starting in 2000, I don't consider myself as entry level with M/C lathe. Do I still have alot to learn? Yes and constantly. I learn something every day since working in machine shops on turning centers since 1974. With the little documentation supplied for MTM as compared to a mill, I'm totally dis-satisfied with the support. I'm not saying that I probably shouldn't need post modification but I did expect that I didn't. SAIPEM had an excellent very first question to ask about MTM that really fired up my cookies. Other than that, I still would have been a quiet observer of this site. Thanks again, Doug Fehrman
  2. - Thanks Roger, I'll take your advise and give some of your solutions a try. - I didn't think that SAIPEM discredited anyone on age but experience does mean alot. When M/C doesn't give you the code you need, you need to have enough experience to write your own code and not be so dependant on M/C. - As far as getting off topic on the original question SAIPEM asked. I think that is not the case at all. My anger has been growing for years with MTM / Turning Centers. As M/C made a bunch of improvements to ART, us MTM guy's were pushed aside left with little improvements and very little documentation. I don't use ART on my machined parts other than engraving. SAIPEM just happened to ask the question at the right time that torqued me off. It was a very good question. If M/C had been taking care of us MTM guys with all their upgrades after paying large maintenance fees for years, then this question would have never been asked. So with the amount of response so far on this thread, it must be an issue with alot of people. I don't see these type of questions being asked about milling. Again, It's time for M/C to step up to the plate. The wait has been too long.
  3. I Thank all of you for the support on my first post. I had to take a couple of days off from viewing this thread as I was expecting to get hammered like I was a Wack-A-Mole. Thanks for not killing me but I had to say it like it is. My biggest problem is using the C-axis G112/G113 cycle. Now correct me if I'm wrong but no matter what post I use for this, and you may experience this also, when tool comp is applied and the code is posted the G41/G42 & G40 code is posted outside of the G112/G113 cycle. Our Mori's or Doosan's don't like this even though verify shows that everthing is working just fine and dandy. Any C position outside of the G112/G113 is posted angular and it needs to be posted inside the cycle as polar in order for it to work correctly. This makes alot more work for me all day long as the owner wants to know what's taking so long because it looks great on the screen. I was told years ago by a dealer that this was not correctable because it was an encripted program in MC that the control maker supplied. Whether there's any truth to that I don't know but any new release of a post, I have tried and still the same junk posting. Now I just draw my shape in MC, analize and find my tool path positions and apply my own tool compensation to the G-code program. I don't consider this as saving time when an operator is standing over you at your desk wondering if you have a clue to what you are doing and if he's going to get hurt from what he is seeing. It starts to make me wonder also. As starting out on V8 and all the versions upto X4 MU3 with seats for Mill Level 3, Mill Level 2 and Lathe Level 1, I would think that this easy fix would have been done by now. Is anyone else having these problems just on the Main Spindle? I'm afraid to try it on the Sub. Other problems I have - Pinch Turning - MC, I'll right the code myself, you are no help in this area. Transfering from the Main to the Sub-Spindle - Hmmm!!! - the little pictures you have look impressive the documentation stinks and I'll right my own code for that too as it posts nothing but junk. If I pick Lathe as the Machine, goto top view and then pick Planes, Lathe Diameter and D+Z+, why must I always have to pick Planes, Lathe Diameter & D+Z+ again when coming from another view to draw more lathe diameters? If I don't, the dimension is double in size. I'm use to it now but new people you are just confusing the hell out of them. How do I become a BETA tester as I feel I have alot to say. I might as well help fix it as our company is not investing in a 2nd programming system. And also, this is my 2nd posting. Thanks SAIPEM, this was a great question to ask and it's really got me fired up.
  4. You know, I've been a quiet observer of this site for quite a while now gaining as much information as I can and this is my first response. I've been in the machining business since 1974 and very strong in turning, MTM and Swiss Machines. I can write G-Code turning and milling programs in my head. I'm pretty much self taught with Mastercam and have been using it since 2000. Our company and companies I have worked for in the past have spent tens of thousands of dollars in posts, training and maintenance costs. Still to this day I must self edit every program that is created for a turning center. As the CNC Programming Manager for the company I work for now (4 years now and 13 years before that) it is my fault for not requesting help with post modification but I can only imagine the outragous cost associated with it on top of what we have already paid) I've been told at a training setion 2 years ago that MTM was in development and was to be released soon. I have been waiting patiently since then and have seen next to no improvement with the new releases for turning or MTM. As my Milling Programmer has no problem creating flawless programs with no editing required, for MTM, I fight this all day long even after we paid thousands of dollars for our Doosan MX2500ST post. MASTERCAM - MTM is not rocket sience. It's real simple. I'm sure I can develope my own programming for MTM on an EXCEL spread sheet and have code I don't need to edit. The only problem is I don't have the time and this is what we pay you for!!! For milling, I give you all the credit in the world - excellent job!!! For us MTM guy's - you are failing misurably. Our company does not want to invest thousands of dollars into 2 programming systems and I have been supportive of you but you are starting to make me look like a fool. It's time for you to step up to the plate. If not, let us all know so we can make other decisions to get our work done more efficiently and error free. MAKE IT SIMPLE !!! MY PATIENCE IS GETTING THIN !!! I'm sorry for getting mean at the end but this is rediculous.
