I chose the 2d chamfer option with a .5 chamfer tool but it seems to be to far away from the edge and it doesn't cut any material when the program runs.

Great Thank You. Now as far as machining the pockets should I do a rough contour for both of them in one operation and then a finish contour for both? Or should I finish the walls with contour and use a different op. to do the floor?

it installs ok,when I draw shapes, it actually allows me to draw the shape but you can't see it untill you click the green scheck mark. Then it shows up. But after it shows up it won't let me select the artwork. Is this a compatability issue? Thanks

I was told mastercam wouldn't run on a mac. But I also was told that you can get windows to run on a mac so why not mastercam?

I am using X4 and have a model with a chuck holding a part. I am trying to face the top of the part. The facing parameter is zig zag and the direction is perpendicular to the chuck. I am trying to get the tool to work parallel to the chuck. Is there a quick fix? Thanks

I got the pocket finished but I am still working on the holes. The holes are each divided into two arcs and are not a continuous circle. When I select drill entities....the cursor snaps to the edge of the circle instead of the center because they are actually two arcs. The rest turned out good, with help and advice from Eapprentice and Emastercam. Thanks again fellas. Who knows maybe I'll be on here one day givin advice and posting drinking happy faces.

Thanks for the help guys, this site is really helpful. I'm a little confused on how to clean up the bottom surface with the 2d pocket. Sine I can not select any check surfaces with the 2d pocket, the center boss is wiped out. And if you notice that radius at the bottom of the inside walls, along the contour, would I use a chamfer tool to cut that? My final operations looked like this. Rough Pocket -to clear majority of material. Rough Pocket -with roughing turned off as suggested. Finish Parallel -to clean up bottom surface. Finish Contour -to clean up the contours on inside. Hi Im using X3 the Demo version Beginner in mastercam -- about 5 months. I am starting out with raw stock and this is what the finished part is supposed to look like. I used surface rough pocket to get to this stage, and it does a pretty good job. However it seems to stop on both sides before cleaning up the center boss. To clean up the pocket completely I thought surface finish contour would work best. Although I am very confused about selecting drive surfaces and a containment boundry !!! Any advice on how to hug the corners and clean up the part? It seems like I should just be able to pick the outline of the path and have it go to work. Thank You.

I tried to install the X3 demo version on my pc running xp. The message tells me that.... -the files for installation requirement MSXML 6.0-x86 for XP could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or canceled download. ??? Anyone have an idea? Also are there any recommendations for what kind of computer/ computer hardware is best for using mastercam. I would like to make sure my computer can handle it. Thank You Much
