  3. Hi guys, just need some help, how do you edit the default header so that i can make them standard to our machine, i am using the default machine type, Our machine is a: Mazak vtc 41L 3 axis mill (moving cloumb) the control is a yasnak mx3 im wasting alot of time removing the headers and chnging them to my own ones, would like to set up the default, thanks
  4. We are mainly run 1 off's or very short runs, so as you say it is difficult to standadize tooling in the machine, we have made some tool setters with standard depths to make adjustment of the tooling faster, i.e. we set our tool height gauges from 30mm, 50mm, 100mm etc these are used to set boring bars, drill etc this atleast lets the operator and programmer know what the standard heights are, also saves time setting the tool up in the machine.
  5. Hi, we run a machine shop with a 2 CNC lathes and 2 CNC mills, We are currently trying to upgrade and sort out our CNC milling operations in order to make working with the machines more efficient, We have a 4 meter moving turret Mazak VTC-41L with twin turrets and a 1.5 meter moving bed beaver with manual tool change. Our company does a lot of very short runs, and we would like to be flexible to sort works faster to cut down machine time. I am trying to think the whole layout of the jobs through before I start changing our current system and frustrating our operators, Basically at the moment, we write our programs manually or with programs similar to edge cam etc recently we have changed over to mastercamX which has inspired us to get into gear, we then send the program to the machine and the tools are selected and zeroed, the stock is set up on the machine and zeroed the code is then manually changed once again. The machine then goes through dry run and then we will start the job. I find this very frustrating as I feel a lot of unnecessary wasted time goes into setup of tooling, stock and modifying programs. From when a job is confirmed: •The draughtsman will receive the design or request by the customer. •A drawing of the part needed is created, this is sent to CNC programmer and store man •Stock material is ordered or found to be in stock by store man. •The CNC operator receives the drawing and creates manual coding (if simple) or a mastercam code this is sent to the machine. •When the code is complete a detailed tooling list of tool heights depths and sizes will be sent to the store man. •The tooling is now located in the stores with standard tool setup jigs. •Tooling is now placed on trolley with stock material and drawing number/job number •The CNC operator then collects the jobs trolley and sets the machine up for the job. •The job is completed tooling trolley moves back to the store and job continues to dispatch. For our mazak I think that it is necessary to have some tooling standard in the turrets. Now what I wanted to know from you guys is what do you think of a setup like this? What criticism do you have? What are your setups? What would you change? Thanks in advance!
  6. great, thanks so simple haha great help as usual!
  7. hi guy, i have a part that i imported from another drawing program, but the part is not in the correct origin, how do i move it to (0;0) for example i could use another program and start again, but i have already written the program, and everything is out by 0.025mm please let me know if you can help thanks you
  8. here is an example of a recent job that we have done on our machine, what i have been doing is importing a drawing into master cam, puting in the millining and drawing operations, and then exporting it to code, then i can use about 90% of the code and i have to change it to suit my machine Mastercam x code % O0000 (PROGRAM NAME - HEATING PLATE ) (DATE=DD-MM-YY - 01-06-09 TIME=HH:MM - 09:25 ) N1 G21 N2 G0 G17 G40 G49 G80 G90 ( 5. 9. hi guys, first off hello, looks like a great forum, im new to mastercam x and thought you guys might be able to help me out, we are currently using it for our milling operations, but we have to add the speeds and feeds for our machine because as far as i understand we do not have the correct machine loaded in the program, is there a specific control/program file needed or avalible for my cnc milling machine? Mazak VTC 41L with Yaznak mx3 control, any help will be apriciated also are there any links/tutorials i can read to up my knowledge abit thanks
