  1. I am looking for someone in the Seattle area that would be interested in doing some mill programing on Saturday. Please contact Mark @ 360-914-6026 Mark Hockett www.islandtechent.com
  2. I've been using Mastercam for a little over a year now. I am comfortable with generating tool paths from DXF files, but I am having a terrible time with Solidworks files. I am a one man shop on an island so I have no in the shop to consult with. I went to the mainland this week to visit a friends shop. He showed me using the WCS to generate tool paths on the various surfaces but there was no way I could remember all the steps he went through to get the tool paths in the short time we spent. We took a drawing of one part, generated tool paths and then transformed the tool path to machine 5 parts from one bar. I feel like I am stagnant and would like to get to the next level of programming. My question is, is there any training manuals, tutorials, DVD's or other materials that explain how to generate tool paths from solid models? and then transform the tool paths? Thanks, Mark Hockett
  3. The_Evil_Machinist' , I've had your app in my iphone since the day I got the phone, you really should charge for it as I wouldn't have thought twice about paying a buck or two for it. Your app and a couple of other machinist apps are the only reason I keep the phone, I hate it otherwise.
  4. Thanks, Thats what I thought we were just having a discussion with a Mac user here in the shop, he was arguing that we should switch to Macs
  5. Can a Mac computer running windows be used for Mcam X4? Anyone using one? Thanks, Mark Hockett
  6. I turned off the aero effects on the Vista computer and that worked great. I will try to max the video performance on the shop computer sometime this weekend and see if that works. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help!!
  7. Thad, I would like to get a new video card for the shop computer, what is the recommended video card? Thanks,
  8. Thad, The desk top XP computer in the shop has a Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT My lap top is the Vista computer and has an ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics. I use the lap top when traveling, when I visit customers and for a Mastercam class at the local college. Thanks for the welcome!
  9. I cannot get the ribbon bar icons to highlight when I click on them. One example would be when I create a line. If I click on the vertical or multi line icons they do not highlight so it is hard to know what is on and what isn't. This also happens in the tool filter menu. I have to click on "none" to make sure there are no tools selected and the pick a tool such as flat end mills or drills. This is happening on both of my computers, one running XP and one running Vista. Thanks, Mark Hockett
