  1. I am currently working thru the same problem and ill let you know if i find a solution - Cheers Gareth
  2. ok so i have the defaults thing sorted now... yay...! although i cannot create a new part and have the tool numbers come thru from my existing tool library? the tool offsets are rite but it seems to change the tool numbers sequentially?
  3. Hi there, could anybody tell me the best way to replicate my defaults from x9 within 2017. Specifically regarding the default machine and the post it used to process the code with. have had a bit of a play in the machine and control def but cannot seem to get it work. Any tips appreciated - thanks in advance
  4. Customer support has identified that our master cam was not installed on C/programme files. IT uninstalled from previous location and reinstalled C/programme files. Now part nests fine.
  5. This is what we see from the nesting dialogue box, You can see the drill cycle and pocket cycle have come thru ok but not the contour of the part, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25086202/pal_pic.bmp Cheers Gareth
  6. Hello again, Yes the origional programme will run fine if you generate the code as per if you were to cut one of. Trying to generate a nest with this part or nest with others of the same material type is where the problem is. I have taken a look at the dxf for any lines or anything which look like they shouldnt be there, it all looks preety good to me. Our laser software doesnt have any issues nesting the part? So could this be a config issue? One thing i have noticed about nesting in X5 is that sometimes there are traverse lines which cannot be nested over top of, as though they were apart of the programme too. could this be linked somehow? Apart from that all other parts we have nested and cut within X5 have worked fine. i will try and add a link to an image for you Cheers Gaz
  7. Hi Charlieb, Thanks for your responce, sheet size is set within the programme correctly and within the nesting paramaters. In the dialogue box when nesting parts the image is missing the contour too. I have only come across this issue on one part not all of them. We can have the job transfered to the laser and have it laser cut but that doesnt solve the issue at hand. perhaps it is our version of X5 as it does crash an awful lot in comparisin to X4 but that doesnt explain why it is only happening on one part. does yours crash much? Cheers Gareth
  8. Hi there, Has anyone else had any issues with x5 router not nesting all the operations programmed within a part. when adding ''operation cluster from file'' how we usually nest, only the drill and pocket opps come thru. I have tried reprogramming from scratch, Change NC file name, purging the levels, i just cant seem to get it to work. if i tick the box as if to accept the nest it will take a very long time to eventually give me the following error. ‘ELEMENT 5’ OF ’11-10377-1 D.MCX-5 – 1 – CLUSTER [NESTED=0, MINIMUM=1] ‘ELEMENT 6’ OF ’11-10377-1 D.MCX-5 – 1 – CLUSTER [NESTED=0, MINIMUM=1] ‘ELEMENT 7’ OF ’11-10377-1 D.MCX-5 – 1 – CLUSTER [NESTED=0, MINIMUM=1] And so on, Does anyone know how to overcome this problem? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Gareth
  9. A technician recently adjusted one of the X axis motor 'filters' to stop it making an annoying noise when not moving on that axis. Could that have anything to do with it?
  10. I've just tried screwing the part down and no change. However i tried cutting it at opposite ends of the machine and the end closest to the control comes out better, not 100% but noticibly better. Colin, yeah we have had problems with long narrow parts. For now we use the laser to cut them.
  11. Thanks for the replies. We run a Haas GR512. Just looking at the machine visually the part doesn't seem to move or vibrate. I'll try screwing the part down and see if that makes any difference. Colin, how would you go about changing the cutting order? We have tried using the change at point funtion (to slow the feed right down at the ends) but cant seem to get it to work properly. Thanks again Nick
  12. I've tried running a few combinations, the spindle speed doesnt seem to have any affect, the more I reduce the feed the better it comes out. By the time I got down to 20ipm the scallops are gone - would that suggest a problem with the machine?
  13. The part is held on a vacuum bed, it doesnt seem to be lifting or moving. We tried running it at 50% feed and 50% spindle, this time the scallops are still there but much smaller - by eye they look around half as far apart and half as 'high'! What could this mean!?
  14. Hi, we are having problems with some .020" ali sheet metal parts we cut on our router. The parts are quite long and narrow and the narrow edge ends up with scalloping along it instead of a nice straight edge. The pink dotted line is where the problem occurs, and at the other end which is similar. But nowhere else on the part. Im not sure if it is a mechanical problem - cutter flex etc or a prob with the dxf. We use 6mm carbide single flute, neutral (no helix) cutters. I have tried what was suggested in this thead http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...t=036802#000000 i.e. turn off infinite look ahead and the arc filter, no change. Any ideas what could be causing this? Is there a way to upload the MCX file to this forum? Any ideas or help appreciated! Nick
