  1. I installed X3 a few moths ago and have been useing it for all new jobs. I started getting

an error mesage (file does not exist)when selecting toolpaths also

blank a tool libary. I must have done something wrong because it worked when first installed.

Should I just delete X3 and reinstall?

    thanks for any advice

    Tony

  2. With filtering off and SGI on (Makino) the file size of the programs is about 5x larger than the filtered TP. The Mazak definitely runs better with filtered tool paths.

No not a fair comapison. 15 yr. old mazak to a

    new Makino.

  3. Since the customer is OK with the difference

I don't want to/can't take the time to reprogram.

Just thought it was interesting how the same

toolpaths in two differtent machines could be so

    different.

  4. I'm cutting two alum. cores, same part, on 2 differt machines. One is a Makino S56 the other

a mazak VTC 16-A. The parts on the makino are

coming out in sharper detail. Picture a piece of slate. The steps between the layers and

edges have a more rounded look on the parts coming off the mazak. The toolpath are the same

except the filter on the makino toolpaths is turned off since the machine doesn't use arcs

filter settings on the mazak set to 2:1/0.001.

The customer is OK with the difference since it's

the inside of the part and won't be seen. I'm just wondering what it would take to get them to look the same. Maybe a thighter filter setting.

    thanks

  5. The surface parameters tab. To the right of regen. It's grayed out untill you click on the check box. Open the dilog box and you'll see

plunge and retract options. If you experiment with those options you should be able to get a lead in lead out that will work.

    glad I could help

  6. I tried useing a point and it grayed out.

I wanted too be able to alter the dia. to get the right fit for a pipe plug. Only arcs for the

inside dia. of the hole and the champfer were drawn in not the major dia. whitch is what the

    TP cuts to.

  7. Does anyone know why the Major thread dia.

Dialog box grays out when selecting points or arcs? I used this tool path for the first time yesterday. I cut three 1/8-27 NPT test holes

first. When I was satisfied with the size, lead in

lead out I cut the cavity block only to have the

hole finish too large. When I checked the toolpath in my ops. manager I saw that the thread dia. box was grayed out. I tried picking on the hole dia. a point in the center with the same results. Why it work the first time I don't know. I got it to work by creating a line through the hole and selecting it's midpoint.

Has anyone had this problem with thread milling

or am I doing something wrong?

    thanks

    Tony

  8. I'm having a problem that just started today

    regenerating toolpaths.After editing an existing

TP by changing things like tool # cutter dia.

or top of stock. I get an error message

    bnci_section():cannot delete nci section

I'm getting around it by deleting the TP

    and starting over.

has anyone see this before or know what causes

    it

    thanks in advance

  9. It's a great tool.Were a mold shop and use it alot

when making electrodes. It saves having to create

    multiple files for each elctrode.

I would like to see an option in the ops manager

to be able to set the WCS to an operation group

name. Or am I missing something
