    Leehound...that is really nice....wanna share?

I have to confess, I did not make that leaf with Mastercam. I used a demo version of "Cut 3D". The demo has 4 models with the leaf being one of them. The models can only be cut using their program. It's actually a neat little program and cheap, but certainly could not replace Mastercam.

  2. I am trying to export to parasolid "X_T" for my customer who is using Unigraphics NX version 4.

Export using mastercam 9.1: His error message is "invalid file contents"

Export using mastercam X: His error message is "error in schema"

I am able to export and import these files with Mastercam with no problems.

Any Ideas if this is a problem on my end or his end? I really don't want to export to IGES. Is there any other solids format that is compatible with Unigraphics?

    Thanks

  3. I am defiantly in the “hate the X interface” camp. I have been using Mastercam since V6. Becoming fully proficient and learning all the little nuances has taken years. Now comes along X and I have to start over? I keep reading “it takes time” or “you need training”. What gets my panties in a wad, is I am the one who signs the checks. Exactly how much is it going to cost in training or lost productivity? During development of X, did anybody at CNC Software ever think of how much this new version was going to cost it’s customers? If we were to add up all the lost hours for everybody that is using X, how much would that be? I guarantee it equals big bucks.

I have already invested the time to learning Mastercam. Why should I be forced to do it all over again?

That is your opinion and you're entitled to it.

Personally, I couldn't disagree more. I like the X interface and I'm more productive with it.

I know that CNC can't please everybody all the time. But my sentiments are not unique, there are many who feel as I do about the interface.

I guess I should invest in a good pair of rose colored glasses and be happy. smile.gif

    Hey I know.

Maybe Ford should go back and finish the Edsel.

To a lot of people on this forum X is like the Edsel. Some lofty ideas just havn't panned out for X.

Some people have rose colored glasses on and will never admit to any of the problems. The X interface is clumsey and not intuitive. Just because something is new doesn't make it better. I am a fan of Mastercam, but I hope some of the interface gripes from the forum are addressed or X might be compared to the Edsel in years to come.

  6. I feel that X just isn't ready for prime time. Too many problems need to be worked out before I use it full time. The deal breaker for me is not being able to print, and yes I have tried all the tricks suggested on this forum.

I also find the interface really objectionable. Granted I have not invested the time required to fully learn it. Too many problems need to be addressed before I stop using a "great" version 9.

Building Molds... We don't store ANY .NC files. We only care about the geometry. (.MC9 .MCX files).

    Amen Brother!

I overwrite NC files all day long. I only care that the NC file matches the file name. The file name = the job or Mold number. I work on different molds throughout the day.

    'machine_group_1.nc' doesnt cut it.
