  1. I was wondering if there is a temp file created before you save a file. I was working on a complex file and my computer crashed when my squirting flower accidently shorted out my PC. Thanks
  2. Are there any version 9 downloads (sp's etc.) still available online? I got a new computer and missing some downloads.
  3. I'm wondering if anyone has found a way around this problem. It pi22es me off every time. If I'm working on a rotary table program and want to simulate using an .stl model as the stock...I need to use true solid in order to be able to use the "compare to stl" option. HOWEVER If I use true solid, I get an error message "3 axis moves in top view only". It's a catch 22. Maybe there is a way around this...any help?
  4. I agree...we do the same thing when we can. The particular part has 5 ports and turning insn't an option. I will try the tapping compound, but thanks for the suggestions!

  6. Thanks for the replies We cut inconel and other nasty materials such as monel, but we have more trouble with finishes on 4140 and 4130 than those. Looks like tearing, we tried messing with speeds and feeds, dwells, sped it up, slowed it down, but never get 32 finish or less, we end up polishing. In your post you mentioned using moly...what are you refering to there?
  7. We always have trouble using MS port tools in that the finish in steels like 4130 or 4140 is not 32 micro. Has anyone had any luck improving surface on porting tools? Care to share?
  8. I tried through Job Set-up but it asks to select geometry...thats where I get screwed
  9. I end up here quite often...picture 2 intersecting cylinders and you want to use a ball em to create a fillet at their intersection. The best way I have found for mastercam to produce it is to use the flowline toolpath. The bad news is I haven't found a way to do that when the tool is bigger than the fillet, and when I want to use a larger ball em to rough the fillet it doesn't work very well at all. I started creating models with larger fillets so I can use the flowline with the larger...then I just edit that toolpath into the original NC program when all is done.
  10. Jack, Thanks for ther reply. I did them both in Mastercam. I was unable to drive a flowline on a fillet smaller than the tool radius, so I created a new model with larger fillets. I have done this before and edited the code from both to create one program, but I was wondering if there is a way to merge 2 programs created within mastercam...into one. I have tried before but got stuck when it asked to choose geometry since they don't both contain the same geometry.
  11. does anyone know of a way to import a toolpath into another program? I did some milling work in one program and I am trying to import it into another program without having to select geometry because the geometry doesn't exist in the new program. long story ...see below.... I had a job that I needed to contour a fillet 3d path which I used a flow line, but because I was roughing and using a bigger ball endmill than the finished fillet...I re-modeled it with a larger fillet and used the flowline to rough it. Now I ran the finisher, but I would like to see the other ball em run in this priogram also. I need to import just the toolpath without the gemoetry
  12. Mayday, it's a horizontal with the pallet being the 4th axis, and it has a rotary table mounted to it as the 5th axis. Currently I manually edit the positions for both rotary tables, but it is getting old. I'm getting tired of editing the positions, and besides thats what CAM is for. To date , my re-seller has been little or no help...no offense, but I think it's over their heads. And like I said...all I'm looking for out of the post is positioning for the tables, I found that a generic 3 axis post spits out positions fine (if you ignore the error message about too many axis being used), and all I need to do is manually enter the "A" and "B" ...I'm wondering if there is a generic 5th axis post that I can edit the primary axis and secondary axis and maybe the direction and be done with it. I guess it's a long shot, but surely we aren't the only people spinning 2 rotary axis so I figured I'd ask. Thanks for the replies...except for the emoticon guy...maybe you've been I.M.'ing a little too much? There's a world OUTSIDE the computer you know.
  13. The generic post that comes with mastercram seems to be over my head to modify. I don't even need exact posts (I can edit)...all I'm looking for is the angles being correct. Does anyone know where I can get a 5th axis post that is set up with a rotary table on a rotating pallet for a horizontal mill? I'm hoping I can find one close enough that I change the few things that will allow it to work for me.
  14. Randy...if you could e-mail that it would help alot. Thanks.
