Clicking repaint should also bring back your geometry in this case.

you can also use the snipping tool if you're running windows 7.
Mike
Thats what I use too.

You just need to match the tool numbers to the pocket numbers in the pocket table and set all the pockets to fixed, only take a couple of minutes you do not need to call DMG. Tool Table-Pocket Table-match the first two columns (tool # and pocket #) and then activate the fourth column (F) for each tool.

Well I am kind of familiar with featurecam and very good with Delcam products in general. Featurecam is kind of like a Powermill Lite. Basically what you need to do is completely forget everything you learned about programming, because Mastercam is just so different than Featurecam that you will just drive yourself crazy trying to reconcile the 2 of them.
Workplanes, stock, toolpath verification and gouge checking are completely different in Mastercam so your previous knowledge on those subjects is just about worthless.
Your best bet is to just experiment with some of the different toolpaths to find what you like best.
Here are a few observations of mine... os far.... :
1.Mastercam is mostly driven by wireframe, so get used to creating alot of lines and arcs, then chaining your wrist numb afterwards. Don't use splines unless absolutely necessary. Try to use straight lines and arcs as much as possible.
2.Do NOT rely on M/C to verify itself to a model. Won't happen. You have to visually verify everything. Even then, triple check everything.
3.Rest roughing will probably drive you crazy.
Good luck
You really are a bitter little man.

I personally cannot wait for X6 to land! The truth about software is that it will always have bugs...and to think that Mastercam would be exempt from this is a bit naive. I mean...look at windows...probably the largest single piece of software around (based on my thinking...not fact) and they are always releasing updates and service packs for it to fix bugs. I am a relatively new user of mastercam so probably havent encountered all of the bugs and glitches that some of the more veteran users have, but i can say this about mastercam...it is very much a user based package. IMO CNC Software does an amazing job of actively listening to the issues that users have and helping them find solutions. Even just on this forum there are obviously CNC software reps and resellers etc helping general users. Having come from Unigraphics I can tell you that this is something that not all CAM software will have. As i said before...I know that X6 will have issues, and won't have fixed all the current issues that X5 has, but I very much look forward to seeing the improvements that they have implemented, and know that when problems do arise, I can put them forward to CNC software and they will be heard.
I wept as I read this....very touching

We're planning on shutting down for the week between Christmas and the New Year.. but I'll believe it when I see it
We're shutting down that week and I'm off to Mexico on the 30th for a week in the sun. But really, busy or not seeing out the year on X5 MU1 is not a big deal, going to X6 live on tour Dec 1st here in Oakville though. Always enjoy the sandwiches and little cakes and coffee

I use dynamic milling daily, you should teach it.

We have Lang, Bock and various sizes of the Raptor tooling. In my own opinion, Raptor is tough to beat. If you're looking for blank load type of work holding in your 5 Axis, no other vise compares to the rigidity than clamping on a dovetail (RAPTOR). Plus you don't have the jaws as obstacles to work around. This means shorter holders and tools = Rigidity! If you will still need a vise for secondary ops, I would stick Lang! They are much cheaper than Bock and perform better! Hope this helps...
As far as rigidity goes I use the Lang vices to run parts that stand out 11" with tight tolerances, many parts we rough, stress relieve and reload locating by the teeth marks on the material (including those 11" parts).

We use lang vices 3"&5" with the quick point and bases, on all our five axis machines they are awsome. I made my own pedestals to raise them up and provide clearance. I also buy the pull studs seperately and make fixtures for second ops to fit the quick point bases so they can come on and off without breaking our set-ups.

For Aluminum with high speed dynamic I go 1.5 xd and 15%-25% stepovers at max rpm, chip load depends on tool dia.

I find when you use "Create curve on all edges" you get way too much geometry, if you only create the edges you need it is a lot easier to look at and things go much faster.
Absolutely, just create the geometry you need on seperate levels.

If your using the simple tool list ”-Tool List (MILL-SIMPLE).rpx” you have to either change an existing data field or add another one then adjust the boxes so they all fit. Then you have to go into “Tool List (MILL-SIMPLE).rpx” and change the headers to match. The attached pic shows the DataField of a TextBox where to change or add “CODE”
That's done the trick, thanks guys.
