  1. Greetings, I am machining a large concave reflector on a milling machine. Like a mirror. I am using a finish contour cut which works well except at the center of the part where it leaves a nipple. I need the ball mill to cut to the center of the part to remove this. I have set the depth of cut and tolerance very small but the cutter still doesn't cut to the center. Any suggestions? Thanks, John Bowersett Army Research Lab
  2. You are the man! Thanks for your help JB
  3. Dragging the column def does not change the setting. An example: Under the dia. column for a NO. 73 drill is the value "0...". It is the same for most of the diameters.
  4. When selecting a drill library tool in X3-MU1 there are no drill diameters shown. How do I change the settings to make them visible? Thanks for any suggestions.
  5. In version X2-MR2. When a drill operation is the first operation the posted output has 3 lines commented out with the "/". For example: /G91 G28 Z0. /G28 X0. Y0. /G92 X10. Y10. Z10. I used to be able to solve this problem in V9 by unchecking the TC Plane box. In V X2 that is not an option. What causes this and how can it be defeated? Thanks for any help JB
  6. Thanks for the reply. I have figured out how to do it. In the windows control panel there is a McamX utility. If the File Open Dialog box is set to MasterCam X, the window that shows the file names will have a bitmap of the part. JB
  7. When using File, Open, and selecting the thumbnail opion, I don't see a picture of the part. How do you turn this on or how can you get a bitmap to appear as in V9? Thanks, John Bowersett Army Research Laboratory
  8. We recently added an ONA wire EDM to our shop. The installer supllied us with a post but it was written for metric output only. When writing an inch program in MasterCam the post only outputs to 3 decimal places even though I have the configuration set to 6 places. Does anyone have an inch post for ONA they will share or know how to edit the post for correct output? Thank you, J.B.
  9. Thanks to all for the feedback. I will look at the generic posts on the CD and go from there. JB
  10. Yes I do. It's Prism Engineering. Usually, when I get a new post from them, they ask what I want the output to look like. As this is a new machine for us, I don't know what structure it should have. That's why I asked for a posted file.
  11. I would like to get a post for a Haas TL1 lathe or a program that shows the correct structure for G-code programs for that contoller. Any help would be appreciated. Yours, John Bowersett
  12. Hi, Have tried the G83 IJK post you sent me for the HAAS controller. Am getting an error message on posting that says variable not defined: strcantext How do I define it. Thanks, JB
  13. Thanks for help. You da man JB
  14. I would like to set up my Haas Mill post to use I,J,K in the G83 drilling cycle. Currently it outputs a "Q" value. I would greatly appreciate anyone who would be so kind as to help with this matter. Thank you, John Bowersett Army Research Lab
  15. Thanks to all of you who responded to my question. I am now happily creating gears. All is well JB
  16. Thanks for your help. I was trying to plot the part using it as a printer. This seems to work better. Thanks again. JB
  17. I would like to draw a gear using the c hook in wire. Some of the values to be filled in are not known to me. Roll diameter? Have looked up the term in gear books and have not found it. Is there document that explains the terms used? Any help would be appreciated. John Bowersett
  18. I am trying to set up an HP 7580B plotter on my computer to make some templates with mastercam. I would like to know how to set the plotter and the computer up to do this. Any help would be appreciated. John Bowersett
