Pro/E uses Flexnet and it's 10years ahead of anything I've seen from Alladin. We NEVER have issues with Flexnet. I ROUTINELY have issues with our Nethasp, especially with the Lathe license not releasing. Also no way to customize anything.
As the head of Programming at a company with 10 seats of cam software I advise CNC to start looking at better options for us customers.

Josh,
We are - and what we're looking toward is a software, rather than hardware, security solution. With X7, you may have noticed the CodeMeter icon - that's part of the software development that is going on currently. As you can imagine, this is something that will have to be implemented progressively over time once we have both the software integration completed and the infrastructure to create and send codes ready.

I'm trying out the new compare in verify and I'm a bit confused. How do I set the different amounts with colors to check to? For instance Im comparing a toolpath to the finish model and one of the color ranges is -.0072 to .171. Thats a weee bit to much range for one color. Id like to be able to set it to +/-.01" with a different color for each, can I do that?
I've been checking into this and yes, this will be available, but it isn't yet finished being hooked up in the beta that was just released.

There was a recent SafeNet (optional) update that can cause this problem.
Problem: When launching Mastercam, the user is prompted with No SIM found.
Reason for the error: SafeNet’s latest device drivers (version 6.55) prevent the sim from being properly recognized by Window’s Device Manager. The device status is: This device cannot start. (Code 10).
Cause:
- When running Windows Update, SafeNet Inc. is listed as an Optional Hardware update. This update will install version 6.55 of the SafeNet USB Key device drivers.
- When plugging the sim into a computer for the first time or reconnecting it to a machine, Windows Device Driver search looks for the proper drivers for the device. This process checks online for the latest compatible device driver, which will install version 6.55.
Solution:
SafeNet is aware of the problem and are working to fix their device drivers. We are very close to having a workaround to the problem so customers can be back up and running in the meantime.
This information is going out to resellers along with any workaround we can find (we're working on it) to get things up and running in the meantime.

At the top of the Mastercam Simulation window, there are three tabs - File, Home, and Verify. When you start Verify, you 'land' in the Home tab. If you click on the Verify tab, then click on Compare, there will be a pane on the right where you can set the different color ranges.

The problem happens more often when you copy a pocket tool path below the original and start changing options in the tool path tree. We change settings in tool path type, then move ahead and change our tool, cut parameters works, after that when we click on roughing options x5 mu1 will stall and give us an unhandled exemption error and crash. This happens on our windows xp machine. I test the same problem on our windows 7 and while moving thru the options on the tool path tree once you get to the rough options the tree will not change. You have to skip over it and move on to entry motion and then come back to rough options for it to work. in windows xp it will just crash. Is anyone else having this problem?
Have you sent a sample file to QC yet? I've tried a few things quickly creating a simple pocket toolpath, copying it, changing to remachining and clicking through the tree. When I went to regenerate the operation, it appeared to lock up but then continued (it just took a bit to crunch the data). Is there anything else about it that you've noticed?
We have seen (during testing) issues with changing from one toolpath type to another but they are generally cleared up with the released version. So, any additional information (settings, example file, etc) would be helpful.
Thanks

As an example, let's work with a basic cube made of surfaces set in an Isometric GView. I want to fillet along the top edge of both the front and right sides of this cube along with the top surface (that gives me 3 surfaces to work with). I'll pick the front surface and right surface and hit the Green circle or Enter - that is "set 1". Then I'll pick the top surface and Enter - "set 2". Then I set my parameters and I get my fillets. Basically, you'd want to pick 'sets' of surfaces that make sense - in this instance, it makes sense to 'group' the sides as one set and the top as the other.

Importing Solids from Inventor

It can be done in whichever software you're more comfortable in, and then you can bring the resulting Inventor file (as solids or surfaces) into Mastercam.
