  1. Hi all !! How do i reverse post process a NC file in MC9 ? Kurt.
  2. Jay, That's what i was looking for !! But, can it be repeated for the 3d scallop strategy ? Thanks so much for your time and effort ! Kurt
  3. Hi folks, I am not able to get a good toolpath with the leftover strategy. Instead of a clean path, i get a lot of spikes, which is not desirable. I have uploaded a sample file - left.mc8 for your reference. Please suggest me as to what settings should be implemented. Thanks. Kurt
  4. Hmmm, well here goes: During rest milling, i would like the cutter to do only climb milling i.e one way. As a result, the cutter takes a cut at a particular z level and then comes up to a retract level which is absolute and above the z zero. This results into a lot of air-cutting. I could set my retract at an incremental level, but it proves to be risky, particularly when there are some islands in the job, because my machine controller does not interpolate in rapid mode. Is there any way, by which i can reduce the air-cutting without harming the workpiece ? Is it possible to convert those rapid moves to feed moves ? In such cases a G1 move would be much safer than a G0 move, when the cutter is moving inside the job. Kurt.
  5. cjf's idea of restmachining is already incorporated in softwares like delcam, cimatron, worknc and tebis.
  6. How about an option, during the roughing operation, which ensures that the tool has sufficient room to move and operate without damaging itself ?? Some kind of an area filter !
  7. With so much of fantastic features in the new version, I wonder what would be the 'goodies' awaiting us in the future versions to come !! Any 'preview', development guys ???
  8. I have an engraving work on hand which requires me to project a pocket toolpath on to multiple surfaces. How do I do it? Kurt.
  9. Thanks a lot James and Dave, but how do i save the operations to an 'operation library'?
  10. I am a mastercam newbie. The Mastercam v8.0 pdf brochure mentions about 'capture your machining knowledge' wherein you capture/build your machining strategies and apply them to similar parts. Could somebody explain to me, how to go about doing this, in detail?
  11. Hi Camguy, There is no fillet between the surfaces.
  12. I use v7.2b. My pencil toolpath does not give a smooth pass. Instead it keeps on hopping up and down. Also my leftover toolpath is also not smooth . I find some small deviations in the toolpath. What is the recommended tolerance? Anything else to be changed apart from the tolerance ?
