  1. Been messing with this for the past three days and I am nearly bald from it. I have a model created in Solidworks 2007 that I have tried exporting to mastercam using the following extensions (.sldprt, x_t, step, and sat) I have also tried re-drawing to the entire model. Every time I go to toolpath the part using rough parallel or even finish parallel I get the Unable to Extract One Solid Face. I have also tried re-importing a completly different .x_t model that I have recently used which worked fine in the past but now I am getting the same error. I ran a solid anylyze in both mastercam and solidworks with no problems in any of my models. I am using X4 and I know I have done something but what I have no clue so I am hoping someone might have some insight to this problem.
  2. Thanks Tom, I really appreciate it. Trust me I have been trying to help him out I waisted an entire day on the phone yesterday explaing on how simple it is, and he kept sending me sldprt files. I just grew a little impatient. Thanks again it is really appreciated.
  3. I am having a problem with the engineer that I am working with as he doesn't know how to save a Solidworks file as a parasolid They are using SW2010 and unfortunatly we never upgraded our version of SW2009 or MX3 and was hoping that someone can convert two solidworks 2010 files to a parasolid for me. I know this is a odd request but I would like to get going on this project and bypass this guy altogether. Part One Part Two Thanks Chris
  4. Thanks for the idea guys, it might be backlas, as I have tried two brand new 1/4" ball endmills, and the wireframe revolved was the second toolpath I tried after a parallel off a solid didn't give good results. It is weird as it leaves a peak/step at the bottom. I am trying a steep parallel right now to do just the bottom from 0-20 degrees to see if that will work.
  5. Trying to do a simple surface toolpath and I have havving a bit of a problem. I have a 2 inch half cylinder cut through a block and when I toolpath it it is leaving a step on the bottom of the cylinder. I have used both surfaces and solids, tried parallel, pencil, and scallop toolpaths and they all give me the same thing. I would just stand it up on end but I have no tool long enough to bore it out. Here is a picture of what I am trying to do, where the scribble on the bottom of the part where the toolpatch is leaving a small step. Anyone have any suggestions?????
  6. Well I am lost my boss came to me and want me to cut lag threads on our CNC lathe. I am unsure if this is even possible because aren't lag bolts formed and not cut????? So is it possible to cut lag screws on a CNC??? If so I will figure it out but I am a little lost.
  7. Thanks Chris, much appreciated, this helps alot.
  8. Before I got started I thought I would check to see if by any chance that someone had a model of the Haas HR 310 4 axis Rotary Table. Being that Haas doesn't give you sufficient info that you can't model I wanted to save some time and not have to do all the measurements. Any help would be great.
  9. Thanks for the reply Slyd, I went ahead and did what you suggested and tried both curves and a spline. I got the curve the sweep, however it still twists around the 3D portion of the curve. I have tried chaining directings, using surfaces instead of solids, and other various things just with no luck, any other suggestions that I can try as this one is really got me boggled.
  10. I uploaded a file in the MCX2 folder named CAMSWEEP.MCX, I was hopeing someone might have some time to look at it to see why when I do a Solid sweep it comes out distorted. I have done tons of these in the past but this one I cannot figure out. I have also tried doing a surface sweep but it does not follow the path??? Any suggestions here will be great!!!
  11. You may try looking into decking material. You can get a piece that is 8 feet long, by 1" thick and 6" wide for $15 to $25.
  12. Hey John what I am wanting is on certain toopaths I need the G28 to stop at a certain position and to carry some type of note, like clear chips or add bolts etc.., I like the idea of using a canned text over manual entry based on the size of the program and the amount of toolpaths used.
  13. Coming from a previous topic, it is possible to have the canned text at the beginning of the program and not the end?
  14. I am using the manual entry, currently
  15. I have been been working on editing my post for our Haas mills but ran into a area I don't know how to do. What I am wanting to do is whenever I enter a comment I want the machine to go to a particular X,Y,Z position at a M00 Such as code: G91 G28 Z0. M9 G90 X-5 Y16 M00 (Bolt Down Part) If there isn't a comment it should look like this code: G91 G28 Z0. M9 M00 Can I do this by adding a Canned Text command or something. I am lost
