  1. Thanks again Tyler. Rob, I dont think I know Steve, or I would say Hi for you. Its possible we are at different companies though. I am in California, where is Advance/Omni?
  2. Also I have collision control off, the path didnt need it, the motion was good.
  3. Thanks for the reply Tyler, I am using a silouhette with a.220 offset,(1/2 ball) meaning the path could almost warerfall down the whole side or vertical walls which I dont want to machine anyway as they are done already. The toolpath has near perfect motion (scallop, its a mold) it just wont see the undercuts. Will it recognize them if I use STL as well. I really like the motion and control of the path right now I just think I am missing something. BTW I have a 5axis trunnion. I am use a chain below my surfs for tilt control. I realize this path is modeled after a scallop, I just hoped with the tilt angle of the tool the machining surfs would become machinable as they are no longer a negative draft angle. The part is finiished now, I am just trying to use all the tools in my toolbox; if its the right one or not I guess I want know till I try it. Dan
  4. Hello Guys, I have almost the exact same problem as above. My toolpath looks and tilts exactly how I want it to using triangular mesh, constant cusp, but will not machine the undercuts even though there is plenty of tilt to make them a positive angled surf. I am not using stl, I have surfs to drive from, and like I said it looks great but no undercuts. Do I need to play with the limits or is there some other trick to get this tp to work 5axis. The undercut is minimal so I finished it with the mesh tp anyway and it posted full 5 and cut fine but no undercuts, I used an offset contour and morphed 2 curves to go back and finish the job but still would like to know how to get undercuts from the triangular mesh. Anyone know what I can do to get this to work next time? Thanks
  5. Ok thanks, Thats what I use now. Just wondered if a c-hook was available. No big deal, this works just more clicks
  6. Edit simplify still leaves me with a spline, no arcs. Tolerance at .0002 still leaves spline?
  7. Does anyone know how to convert splines to arcs like V9 did? I currently just use break many pcs to do it. I was hoping there was a better way or c-hook?
  8. The feed and speeds can be fixed by unchecking the lock feedrates box in configuration. Or you must reinitilize feeds and speeds as you create the toolpath evertime.
  9. I still cant fix it. Tried everthing I can think of. I suspect its something to do with X5 having the myX5 and shared folders. I am admin on my computer so if theres any other suggestions let me know and I will try them. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the input guys, So gcode you dont have any issues with this? I thought it might be a defaults issue as well so I reinstalled X5 without updating any X4 folders and just left it as is. I still have the problem. I dont know???
  11. Hello Guys, I have used mastercam for many years and this is the first time I have encountered this.First you have multiple tools in the tool manager then What happens in previous versions is you make a toolpath say just a 2d contour and pick a tool like a 1/2 Flat em to do it. Then you go to make another 2d contour toolpath and the tool you last used for a contour is automatically picked so you dont need to select another although you can if you wish. In X5 I can not get it to do this, it wants to grab another tool from the toolist. I cant figure out why it picks the one it does or how to make it pick the last tool I used. I have tried the operation defaults and can not find anything in the configuration that would alter this. Does anyone else have this problem or know what I am talking about? Thanks, Dan
  12. Hello Guys, I am having issues importing solids from other systems. Its not a huge porblem but still a bug, I think. What happens is when you import a file the solids dont maintain their color attributes. For instance if you have color 9 as your system color in mastercam X5 all solids come in that color and you can not make a color change until you clear all face and feature colors in solids tree, then you can change the colors to what you wish. In X4 there was no problem, it would come in the same color I made them in solidworks. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you. Dan
