  1. Thanks Barry, The guys that sell these in our area are going to drop a few off for us to try out. For some reason we still have not seen in pricing. I am assuming they must be pretty salty.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with Ingersoll's Chip Surfers line? If so, what are your feelings. We are wanting to retool a little back in our Cnc department and these cutters have been mentioned as a possibility. We are mold makers so we use alot of H-13, S-7, P-20 etc.... We are thinking we could use these for roughing, finishing and hard machining. The one that interests me the most is the High Feed insert for roughing cavities.
  3. We use Unigraphics here mainly due to the fact that is what software delphi uses to draw their product (keeps us from having to run any translators). Normally your customers will dictate what cad programs are acceptable. I love using unigraphics. I had only used the standard 2d packages such as versacad and autocad before I started running unigraphics and I would just as soon never use another 2d package again. The price and maintenance for UG is pretty salty though.
  4. I finally got it straightened out but apparently it didnt like my file server for some reason. I took an old computer and reinstalled nt workstation on it and then I popped the drive out of the other computer and put it in and now everything seems to be running fine. It still bothers me that I couldnt find out what was wrong with the old machine.
  5. Microsoft ® Windows NT Version 4.00 DrWtsn32 Copyright © 1985-1996 Microsoft Corp. All rights reserved. Application exception occurred: App: (pid=201) When: 12/2/2002 @ 14:50:40.254 Exception number: c0000005 (access violation) Here is what gets dumped. This test was using version 8.1 on one of the machines I have yet to upgrade to win2k. We have a total of 3 licenses, 2 I have upgraded to win2k and one is still on nt. Both win2k and nt give me this error message. I also noticed they still had version 7.1 loaded on this pc (winNT) so I tried to "get" a file using 7.1 across the network and it worked fine. Things you can do over the network are: convert a parasolid across the network but the only problem is if you save it then try to call it back up it errors out and under file if you go to browse it will let you browse the directory.(kinda "gets" all the files in the directory and briefly displays them) I would post the full dr. watson dump but the board will not allow it so if anyone thinks it will help I can always email it to them.
  6. Sorry guys I have been away for a couple days. The video card on the machine that I am running mastercam on is a nvidia Quadro2 EX, the drivers I am using are the latest ones nvidia has available I believe they are 30.82. The w2k is service pack 2, I know service pack 3 is out but when I ordered the computers I also ordered some for engineering which meant unigraphics was only certified for service pack 2 at the time so thats why I am not on 3. James you are correct in that it is just a file server, no mastercam is installed on it. It is actually the workstation version of nt not the server version. I just ran down and checked our file server and it is running (winNT) service pack 6. The video card on this particular machine is just a basic vga card. Once again thanks for all the replies.
  7. I'll give that a go james and see if it helps. If all else fails i'll just use one of our older non-used computers we have and move the hard drive and rocketport card over to it and use it. I guess that is the thing that has me confused the most, the one computer I need to access thru mastercam I cant and the ones I dont, I can. Thanks alot for everyones input and suggestions, you guys have a great forum with polite ppl who are really helpful. I wish my unigraphics forum was more like this one.
  8. Yes they are. I have tried accessing the director as a share and also by browsing the network inside of mastercam. I also have adminstrator priv's while I am trying to do these tests. I have tried creating new directories and shares but still with the same result. On a side note in speaking with guys that use mastercam they mentioned that version 8.0 didnt have this problem but when one of them upgraded their pc to 8.1 thats when it began. At one time I thought this was purely a network issue but now I am not sure. It doesnt make sense to me why mastercam would allow you to open files from any other pc on our network except this one but it also doesnt make sense either why 8.0 would allow it and 8.1/8.1.1 will not. We have a TCP/IP network with dhcp running.
  9. Thanks for the quick reply, I checked and we are set to "hasp" already.
  10. Hello everyone, This is the first time I have posted here and I do not use mastercam myself. I am actually a tool designer who runs unigraphics but I am responsible to keep the mastercam pc's up and running also. Here are the systems we are using: We have two seats of master cam version 8.1.1 running on win2k service pack 2(dell precision 340 workstations) and a computer we refer to as our server running winNT 4.0 workstation(at least service pack 3) which is nothing more than a place we store our jobs. The problem I am experiencing is if I try open a file from our server I receive an application error that kicks me out of mastercam. I have tried mapping the drive and accessing through the browser with the same results. The thing that has me bewildered is if you access the drive through the map say in windows explorer and double click an mc8 file it will start mastercam and call up fine. Here is something else, I am able to go across the network to other computers and call up mc8 files (did this as a test) with no problems. As far as I can tell my permissions are setup properly and I am not sure why I would be experience this problem with one pc and not all. Any suggestions would be greatly apprieciated before I have a nervous breakdown.
