  1. I have 9.1 Mill Level 1, and X, Mill Level 2. I do mainly custom milling and Wire EDM (Esprit, for the wire). I don't know beans about writing lathe programs, other than the few simple G-code files that I use for my small-volume product parts.
  2. I have a HAAS TL 1 lathe that I use for short runs of simple parts for my own product. Programs are short and very basic, so I haven't invested in Mastercam Lathe (yet!). I have a milling package for my "real" work. I'm interested in turning some balls, just under 2" diameter. I'll use 2.0" diameter 303 stainless bar stock, and make the finished ball 1.990" diameter. Never turned a ball before, and I don't have a clue about compensating for the radius on my turning tool, or programming the rough cuts. If anyone is willing to give me some pointers, please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks much!
  3. Thanks; will do. Maybe I'll take the rest of the weekend off...
  4. I just picked up a new computer; and of course, there is no parallel port for my Hasp. Do I need a different Hasp that plugs into a USB port, or can I simply use an adaptor and get by with my current Hasp? Thanks!
  5. No fair! They get to leave at 3:00 and my day is only half over. Dang!
  6. If you had typed MY name into your control, it would have laughed even louder. The Hurco didn't like the .nc extension, so I changed it to .hnc But I inadvertently ended up with .hnc.nc; and of course, it REALLY didn't like that. I've seen the error of my ways now.
  7. Thanks! I've been waiting for an hour for a return call. I've tried a couple extensions so far; maybe I'll try a couple others.
  8. I have quick question. In just picked up a new VM1 with the Max control, and did not go for the ISNC option. This morning I started playing with the machine for the first time. Since I don't have a cable yet, I tried downloading a small program from a floppy, using the MPHURCO post. Anyway, the control doesn't even seem to recognize that there is a program on the floppy. ??????? Thanks!
  9. Hi, I've been using Mill Level 1 for a couple years, doing pretty simple stuff. Just upgraded to Level 3 (mainly for one big project!). Anyway, I've had three hours of onsite training, and right now it seems that I have more questions than before the training! I've got a 3D model, and I'm trying to create a simple toolpath along the centerline of what looks just like a mold runner, that will be cut with a 1/4" ball cutter. I'm using "create, curve, flowline"; but instead of getting the two ouside edges and one line that's on center, I end up with the outside edges and TWO lines, which are several thousandths each side of center. Sorry for my lousy description, but does anyone have a clue for me? Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks! I appreciate all the help.
  11. Thanks! I'll try it again tonight or tomorrow. I'm still trying to learn the basics of this program and of course, now that I've got something new to learn, I'm swamped with other work, and not finding much time to sit down at the computer. (the trouble with being a one-man operation)
  12. No, won't work with level 1. Still struggling...
  13. Thanks Scott. I know, this is what I get for working so late on a Saturday! I'm just engraving a shift pattern onto a 2" stainless steel ball, so I only need lettering, and a couple straight lines. I drew up the pattern, and couldn't figure out how to project it, but I knew there was a way. I'll let you know how it works for me. Thanks again, Doug W.
  14. Question from a newbie... I understand that even Mill Level 1 will allow me to project a toolpath onto a sphere, but I haven't got it figured out. Any clues? Thanks!
