  1. When I do a toolpath simulation with a stock model is there a way to record it so that it can be played back using windows media player? It would be nice to be able to do this so that we can show the simulation to people who do not have mastercam on their computer.
  2. I recently programmed a part , and ran the verification. The question I have is: I would like to send a copy of the simulation to a freind so he can see how the part will be cut. He does not have Mastercam or access to it. Is there a way I can set up the simulation so he can view it using Windows media player or realtime player, ect. It is just so he can get some idea of how his part will be cut.
  3. we just added a usb port to our 1993 fadal vmc. you can buy a kit. we only had a very small amount of memory avaialable on the control. A company called teir one cnc based in new york, (up near earie pa. border) came and installed it on our machine, it cost around 700 for the kit plus the service call. We use it to dnc programs to large to fit in the contolleers memory.
  4. Can you email the pdf of class examples?
  5. I am interested in seeing some of what you have done. can you email me in pdf form? [email protected] . Thanks !!!!
  6. I liked ESPRIT. We used it for Swiss turn, 5 axis mill and mill turn. Some things are easier to do but others are not. I like Mastercam cam so far but still need to learn all the "little tricks".
  7. I would like to know how I can import a fixture, ..say for example a machine vise. I used Esprit and all you had to do was pick file open>merge and the vise would be added to the model, you could then translate it to the correct position in relation to your stock. How do I do this in Mastercam?
  8. Sometimes when I know a part is going to move during machining I rough leaving extra stock so I can machine the bow out of it.
  9. I would like to know if any of you instructors can tell me if there are any schools in the central PA. area that offer Mastercam courses? I would be looking for a school near Harrisburg PA., or possibly near Harrisonburg VA.
  10. Just delete the file extension and resave, you will get a warning that the file might be unusable-just ignore it. I have done this many times on my HAAS and on my Tsugami Swiss with Fanuc control.
  11. when I enter the link I get "search returned no results" . I am not in any hurry so if you could try something else when you get some time that would be great! I appreciate your taking the time to help.

  12. I do not want tool paths I want to try and program myself I liked the model you showed in your post on 16 april There is a link to a you tube video. I am just learning to program with mastercam having used esprit in the past. I just thought it would be an interesting challenge for me. I only want the model no tool paths, if I have trouble programming I might impose on you for some advice. Thank yo

  13. Can you please email me the human head model I would like to try to program it.

  14. Can you please email the human head file, I do not have it in my sample files for some reason, tried the FTP site and was unable to download.
  15. can you tell me where on the ftp site this model is located?

  16. I have a student edition of Mastercam, and was not able to find the 3axis human head file. Would it be possible for you to email me a copy of the model? I would like to "play around" with it and try to program it on my own. I would appreciate it. email to : [email protected]
  17. Thanks -- I kinda figured it was something fairly simple to do, I just need to learn where all the menues and commands are. once again thanks.
  18. I am intersted in getting up to speed as quickly as possible especially in 3 -4 and 5 axis machining. I have used several other cam softwares and have used MASTERCAM for 2.5 axis.

  19. I have a student version of MCX5 and limited access to a commercial version thru my employer. I am new to mastercam as I am switching from ESPRIT. When I import a model from Pro/E solidworks or Alibre how can I create geometry that Mcam will recognize to create tool paths. I imported a model of a casting as a step file, oriented it for zero position and then wanted to Drill some holes. I select toolpaths-drill -ect... when prompted to pick points arcs entities ect.. All I can do is select the entire solid model I imported. In Esprit there was a command called "smash" that more or less extracted the edges from the solid model so you could pick specific geometry, is there a way to do this in Mcam. Feature Base Mach is all I could use to select the holes. Any help, or suggestions would be appreciated.
  20. I too would like to know more about this I see you have several jpegs as attachments but I cant seem to open them, can you please send them to me at [email protected] ?
