  1. well its looks like the boss will only do the 32gb ram upgrade and no SSD drive upgrade. The only issue with having no SSD is that saving and opening up mastercam might take a few seconds longer, everything else should be pretty fast
  2. Thanks for the link, Just checked out that site and the prices there are about the same as Canada Computers, the Canada Computer model has a faster processor (more cores too) and more memory in the graphics card and so on in that price range with a Quadro 4000 or greater card. i do 2d, 3d and 4 axis programing for simple parts to mould cavities and die sets, i also design fixtures and nests
  3. there isn't much competition/selection in Canada so it looks i might be limited to this model. i think i will have to upgrade the ram, 8gb probably wont cut it so an extra $200 i can plug in more ram and get it up to 16gb
  4. Ok, i also have to look into purchasing a new workstation for work and i am not in the mood to deal with a build so i need an all said and done fast workstation, i found this computer on Canada computer for a pretty good price http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_1000&item_id=065731 Lenovo ThinkStation S30 4352 Xeon E5-1650V2 / 3.5 GHz ( 6-core ) RAM 8 GB SSHD 1 x 2 TB ( 8 GB ) Quadro K4000 do you think this will be good enough or does anyone know of any other retailers or other workstation would be more ideal that are in Ontario Canada it would nice to boost up the ram to 32gb and maybe swap out the sshd with a ssd drive
  5. i was looking into that razor keyboard i thought i wouldn't work for me, i guess i should have waited a few more days to purchase the Spacemouse Pro and gave more thought into that device. Anyways i did get the Spacemouse pro the other day and love the fact that my left hands is doing something and helps relieve some pain from my right constantly clicking and moving around. i also have that Logitech trackball mouse and the Logitech MX mouse which i go back in forth when the pain start kicking in. Does any one know the hotkey/marco for the Plane Manager?
  6. wow, dam that was some quick replies. it looks like i will have to convince the wifey that i need to spend $400 on a tool for work.
  7. My question is should i buy the Spacemouse Pro? Am a full time programmer, I mostly do 2d/3d programming , Once or twice a month i design nests and fixtures in Mastercam. This would come out of my own money thinking this might be a nice investment for myself (eg. help relief wrist pain and spend up design and programing ). i did a bit of research on the net about mice for cad work and i have been leaning toward a device like this. The problem is I don't know of anyone who uses one and would you guys buy this item with your own money?
  8. my boss had In-House Solution install in for us since I had no time to deal with it, It looks like I will have to give them a call
  9. For the first few days I loved how it all worked too but then I had Mastercam crash and ever since then it never worked right, not sure if there was an mastercam update or something else that caused these problem. Am wandering if I should reinstall X8
  10. Is it me or is there something wrong with X8 dynamic mill. I have been having major issues getting anything done with these toolpaths, nothing seems to work right from day to day. It seems like it has a mind of its own and does what it wants, it doesn't recognize stock setup, rest milling, depth of cuts etc. Does anyone know of any fixes to this problem?
  11. i have the z zero set on top of stock and i always look at all angle before sending anything out but you are right you can't assume anything, its the mother of all f*&k ups.
  12. i hear you, either way this dogleg situation should not be there, when looking at the rapid lines in the back plot and verifying the tool path there are no indication of this collision. I was doing a large nest using surface high speed (core roughing) tool path, I had the clearance plane set at absolute 2.000, part clearance 1.000 and the linear entry and exit at .500. I thought this would be plenty for a 2inch deep cavity, anyways live and learn, this is my first large 3d nest project for a haas machine and using the latest mastercam version, most of my 3d programing experience has been with the old mastercam series starting from mastecam3 - mastercam9 (10years) and the only thing you had to worry about was the tool plunging through the surface
  13. Thanks for that link, no fixes for this dogleg rapid movement, Thanks Haas for the $400 block! rubbish machines
  14. Does anyone know how to fix the rapid movement in HASS VF4 and VF2 when machining with 3d toolpaths or even 2d toolpaths. The x and y travel do not meet at the same time when moving like shown in the backplot in Mastercam, this is a huge problem becasue the tool will cut into areas where the tool should not go.
