  1. Mastercam can make a video. You have to use mastercam simulation not verify. In simulation setup, select a machine , identify fixtures and stock. There's an option in simulation to make an avi. I used it last week for the first time and it works great. It creates an .exe file, so for convenience I keep it in its own folder.
  2. Does anyone have an Akira_seiki? Anyone, anyone....?
  3. We have a Akira Seiki SV2060 with a Mi645 mitsubishi control. We need a post for the machine. From what I understand mastercam does have a post for the akira seiki for free but I'm not sure if its for this control. I think its for the Mi64 control. Does anyone have experience with this control? Would the code be any different between the Mi64 and the Mi645 control? Is there anything that I should look out for or be aware of? Any help would much appreciated. And a post wouldnt hurt either.
  4. That's the way I want it work. In my company we have several depts that need similar data for different reasons. I need it to reduce setup cost by standardizing tooling. Accounting needs it so they can charge the tools to the right job. The Inventory guy needs it so he knows how much to stock of each tool.
  5. I'm not really sure the best way to handle all the different *tool.db file. I'm starting to think there is no easy way of doing it except importing one *.tooldb file at a time.
  6. I haven't tried just opening the database file. I actually had not thought about it till you mentioned it. I know enough about databases to be dangerous, but not much more than that. I'll try it. Thanks
  7. Does anyone have any experience linking mastercam to a database? I've recently been tasked with cleaning up our tool lists. I'm trying to make a standard tool list to speed up setup times. What I would like to do is export tool list data into a database? Then with part demand info and tool data, I can get a reasonable idea of what tools I really need to have in my standard tool list based on part demand and frequency. Currently our database is syspro but we may be changing in the future. So first I need to be able to export the data and then get syspro to accept and crunch the numbers. Ideally I would like to export a batch of programs.
  8. I thought I posted a zip2go file with the original post. It has all the info. It says the file is too big. I'll see if I can shrink the file and repost it.
  9. I tried trochoidal and that increased that the cycle time dramatically. I decided to go another route, now I'm cutting a groove around the perimeter of the pocket with a .75 cutter in two depth passes and then pocketing the rest with a 2.0" 3flute cutter from iscar. I'm taking .30 depth of cut running it at 6000rpm and 100ipm. That seems to have worked out well.
  10. Machine: Fadal 8030 Material: 7050 Alum 74x28x1.25" I'm cutting a nest of 3 parts out of a large aluminum plate(74x28x1.25"0. The part is being held on a vacuum chuck. I have a roughing operation(operations 6-8) to clear out most of the material for a 3.0 face mill that comes down and machines the bottom steps. I'm roughing it out with a Hanita .75 3flute rgh endmill. Currently I'm have it programmed using the pocket facing cycle now. But, I'm not happy with it. When the machine makes its stepover the load meter on my machine spikes up momentarily to 150%, also the chips tend to get trapped. So I have to pause the machine to clear the chips so coolant can get to the tool. I've experimented with volumill but that dramatically increase my cycle time. I have also drawn the tool path, which will work but it takes a long time and i have to program 6 more parts like this. So, I'd rather not do that. Attached is the Zip2Go file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
