  1. Hi, thanks for your advice with surface contour finish and the shallow thing, it's really gives a good blend. As for the roughing part, I decided to use Cut3d from Vectric instead. It's very quick to generate toolpath and it does exactly what I need for roughing. Because this program does only raster, the finish is not good enough so I do that part with Mastercam.
  2. Ok look at the picture I attached. You will see that the tool at position 1 is less deep then the tool at position 2. Consider that I do from top to bottom which is position 2 comes after position 1. Therefore, there will be more material to the left of the tool in position 2 than in position 1. So is there an option or a toolpath that takes away the material on top of the surface and in front (at least a diameter thick)? Or is there something I'm missing with mastercam because I'm still learning this software?
  3. Hi, When I do a surface contour toolpath, the toolpath generated is made so the tool is always in contact with the surface which is what I want for finishing. My question is that if I use this toolpath directly on stock, I will be at a higher depth when I do my last pass and the tool will be very deep. Is there a toolpath or an option in surface contour that remove the stock in front of the surface with a Z step down so that I do not go to deep? thx.
  4. Well never mind. There has been a licence change and I wasnt informed. Anyways It's good now. You can delete this thread.
  5. I'm running MasterCam X2 on windows XP (32-bit I think) and there was no problem until this morning, for some obscure reason, when I start MasterCam, I get error "HASP not Found". This as happenned to me before and I restarted my computer and the problem was gone. Now, I've restarted my computer trice and it still wont work Why???WHY??? I think I have NetHASP for those who know what could be the problem. Thanks.
  6. yes I'm used to AutoCad, but it doesnt mean I like it. There's a lot of stuff I hate about it, but the level manager is better (but not the best). X2 was released in 2007, right? They didnt already have the instant level manager figured at that time? Anyways, I'll stop complaining because it seems they solved that problem. Also, when selecting elements, is there a way to cycle throught when there are multiple elements over each other? Pro-E has the right click, AutoCad the tab and others have ctrl or shift but what does MasterCam have?
  7. Hi, I'm using MasterCam X2 and is it just me or the level editor is pure garbage? Why is it that when I want to display/hide a level, I need to confirm every time. It should be as soon as you check/uncheck, the level display/hides, like every other programs I've used! Also, why isn't there a color, line style, line width, etc. for each level, that's the main use for levels. Instead, I have to change each of that every time! I should be able to have that nice level window always open so I can manage levels efficiently. From what I've read it seems that MasterCam doesn't evoluate over the years. I've used X4, and it seems to me like the same exact thing. So, is there a way to manage levels more efficiently that I do not know? Thanks
