I have MC 2019 and using the Cimco 8 editor. Whenever I go to post a program on a particular machine that does not like any file extentions. ie, NC. PST. Tap, etc, it will always add a .NC.
My control definitions, config system and post dialog box ALL say not to add any extentions. But Cimco will always add the .NC extentions. I have had no luck in trying to force Cimco not to put and extention on the program but I have not found it yet.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Sandybar

They have come out and told us to upgrade our Operating system on all our machine tools. I mean you can't make this stuff up.

We have older Dos based CNC milling centers with either Floppy, RE-232c or Ethernet hookups for program uploads.
We are currently hook up to the Network via Ethernet, and with every new security update on the network running Win 10 , we often are unable to communicate to the machine tool.
Our IT department will not allow us to have a stand alone station used solely to send programs to the machine tool.
Has anyone else have this problem? or are we the only one that has to fight our IT department.

I've done some minor post tweaking but looks as if this is more than I can chew off. I contacted my re-sellar.
Thanks

We have a nethasp license manager (Aladdin) for our MasterCam. We have approx. 500 workstation at our company hooked up to our network. But only 15 workstations with MasterCam installed. We have several workstations that are non-users with no MasterCam installed on its workstation but somehow they are grabbing a license from our Aladdin license manager. Has anyone had this problem? What do I need to do to eliminate these workstations from grabbing a license.
Thanks in advance.

We are looking for a large envelope machine 60" x 30" for our tooling department and 30" in Y is pretty much a must have. We do have limitations when looking for a large envelope machine. Milltronics fits our budget, tool capicity, and speed. Would like to know the long term durability, service and value.
If we had a budget it would deffinitly need to be below 100K

We are looking into a Milltronics VMC and would like to get the pros and cons to this product.
If anyone has any experince with this machine tool, could you take a moment to express you likes and dislikes?
Thanks in advance

I tried to upload the file but said I'm not cleared to upload.
What do I need to do to get cleared?

I know im missing somthing really simple but for the light of me can't get my head around it.
I projected a curve onto a 2" diameter cylinder surface.
Using 5 axis curve Classic, using the 3 D curves in cut pattern, I mills the top just fine and also does the same pattern 180 degrees from the top. I only want to mill the top.
Tool axis control is surface cylinder.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did a search but sis not find the answer I was looking for. I want to save the Stock Model for a Rest Mill operation but can't seem to find a way to do so. Is this possible.
Thanks

thanks for all the replies, Looks like it may be cheaper to just buy a ER collet for every drill and tap combination we have. I like your drill chuck idea Colin, and we do use them since they are quick and easy, but will not get repeatbility with this system.

I'm researching a different aproach to tool holder management for a vertical machining centers. We are a prototyping shop with anywhere from one part to 10 parts.
I hoping to find a way to minimize buying a CAT-40 tool holder for every tap and drill combination we use. What I'm looking for is a CAT-40 tool holder with detachable ER collets that mount into the CAT-40 toolholder. I would like to put every drill and tap combination into the ER Collets and then swap out into the CAT-40 toolholders when needed. So Ideally I would have 2 CAT-40 toolholders and 20 drill and tap combinations.
Sandvik makes a Capto ER Collet simialar to what I'm looking for. Just want to know if there is anything else on the market?
Thanks in advance

I second the very sharp HSS cutting tools.

Okay, had time to re-visit this issue today and the codes are identical in both X6 and X7, but what I noticed was the X6 file was 4KB and the X7 file was 417KB. Digging a little deeper I re-opened the X7 file and it is filled with gibberish computer language, you know the Greek looking symbols and thrown in what looks like bits and pieces of the post.
What is happening?
-
I'e taken out all comments, brackets and still get the error. I still have the tool comment lines in. Maybe take them out too?
-
I have had X7 for 3 months now and just now getting all my machines working except for one Haas mill. When I post the X7 code the Haas Mill will not accept this code. However when you compare an X6 Code side by side there is no difference.
The errors I get are:
245 Unknown Code
241 Invalid Code
