mastercam X2/11 is great, but I can't wait to get my hands on mastercam X3+7/8*9
it's in beta, i've been testing it...

+100 Thad
we had similar issues, but making sure that all the system tolerances and such matched was key!
-
have you tried "disable front buffer" in your screen settings within X2? if not you might give it a try. if that doesn't work you could try "disable hardware acceleration" as well, or a combination of the two.

are you using Windows 2000 Pro as your OS?
-
thanks Chris, unfortunately some of us are stuck working on older workstations...
-
will do...
hopefully Roger will be looking into this for us.

BTW....in the McamX control panel applet, in the "file open dialog style", when I tell it to use "windows standard" it works how I want, but if it's set to "mastercam x" it does not.
and I don't have a problem using the "windows standard" but you don't get to see a preview or descriptor or any of that special stuff.
oh...and I am using Windows 2000 Pro. don't know if that has anything to do with it.

my windows settings are set to use "list".
and i have changed x2 to this format several times and they don't seem to be sticking.
i can however notice that when i click on open, when the window pops up for a brief period, not even a full second, they're shown in the "list" format but then it just jumps over to "large icons"
-
When you open a file using the open dialog box it is set to default as "Large Icons".
I would like to set this to "List" by default. Is there any way to do this?
I looked through the help menu and searched the forum here but didn't find anything relevant.

I am using MR2 and Hole-Axis is working for me...
Is it not working for you guys?

Thanks for all your help and patience.

Ohhhhh....I misunderstood your first post.
But as far as you know there is no way to edit the text? I would like to change one of the user def to "CVD Diamond".
-
what does the material library have to do with the "material defintion on a tool"?
I'm talking about where you define whether your tool is HSS, Carbide, Ti Coated, Ceramic, etc....
There are 2 called user def 1 & 2...
-
bump....
no one knows about this???????
-
In mill, when defining a tool on the parameters tab, it has a dropdown for material.
Included here are two custom options, User Def 1 & User Def 2.
Does anyone know where I could edit the text that is displayed here, and the properties that go along with it?
Thanks

I was wondering the same but didn't have the fortitude to ask myself...

sounds to me like you need to store your .config file somewhere on a network and read it from there.
even though you are storing it on your desktop on one computer that doesn't mean that when you login to another computer it's still on your desktop.
your profile roams but all the files from that computer don't roam with it.

Congrats

Ernie,
I have a request. Solid face recognition. If I could pick a cylinder in my solid and have it generate an axis based on the center of it.
That, to me, would be the ultimate.
Later...
