  1. I like this function for simply cutting a part to length, for example: Say I have a part that is 1 X 1 X 4.0 long and the blanks are from 4.1 to 5.0 long. I put the part in a vise with the left edge of the part against a stop and the right side of the part out of the vise. I can use 10% perpendicular lead in and 60% contour extention to put my tool safely away from the part, and 10% extention and 10% perpendicular lead out. With radius lead in I would have to fiddle with it and it wasn't as clean in the code as the contour extention. The code would look like this: (1.0 END MILL) G00X4.6Y.6 speed etc. Z-.05 G01G41X4.5D# Y0 Y-1. Y-1.1 G40 X4.6 I just want to reduce this to one y move. I have run the NCI file thru the filter with 0.0% reduction every time. Thanks again, Clayton
  2. I know, I just thought it was interesting that converting the library to text also took a long time. I have been talking to our N/T guy about it also. He posted pretty much the same question on this board today. Thanks Clayton
  3. I am working on a Pentium IV 2.4 gig with 512 ram running Windows XP Pro. When I open up the tool manager library it is taking up to 1 1/2 Min. The file is 193 kb and I can transfer the file to another computer in less then 1/2 second. I have updated Xp from the windows update manager and have downloaded all the mastercam update files. Does anyone else have this problem? Michael Doelling MCP Computer Consultants for CR@seyer
  4. In the new 9.1 mastercam we have the great new capability to extend the start and end of a contour. I like it:) I have a question, however, is there a way to post out one move instead of having it broken into pieces in the G-code? Not that it is a big problem, I just know I will get some wieners from the floor about the straight line move that takes 2 or 3 lines of code to execute. It still goes to the same place but there aint no tellin 'em nuffum. Its all those single blockers out there that get finger cramps from all that pokin'. I tried using the filter but it doesn't seem to help. Thanks, Clayton

  6. OK, I tried that, unfortunately it did not work. In addition it took more than 2 minutes to complete each task, converting to text and converting from text. Thanks again, Clayton
  7. Hey guys, This problem was posted about recently but I think it deserves more attention. The problem is that when I go to open the tool library from nc utils or from the operation I have to wait 1 minute 20 seconds for it to open. That is when the file is located on the server. When it is located locally it takes 50 seconds to open, per my trusty stopwatch. Either instance is too long. We have spent a considerable amount of time customizing a tool list so that speeds and feeds are consistent between programmers on specialized tooling. This is also the reason for keeping the tool list on the server. The tool list is large at 2,535 k. Nevertheless, this problem was nonexistent in version 9.0sp1. I have not found this problem with op libraries or material libraries but they have not been customized to the extent that the tool library has been. The computer is a brand new 2.8 P4 with G-forceII 64 mg video and 512 ram running XP pro. One suggestion from the previous string was to open the file as an MC9 file and resave. I tried this and it made little or no difference. Another suggestion was to update XP with the latest updates. The NT guy did this and it too made no difference. I am at a loss as to what to do next. This is my first post and I hope that I was specific enough not to upset the Mastercam gods ; ) Thanks in advance, [email protected]
