  1. I have a similar problem: When I use contour and I want a lead out that is a strait line tangent to the line. I am toolpathing for ex. a simple cut across the edge of a part to square one end. If I use the lead out in the contour menu what I get is a move to the edge of the part and then it gives me another move that is the lead out distance past the part. The two points are on the same line so why does it post out this way? If I don't use the lead out then it never cancels cutter comp. I am using 7.2 and I don't have a filter check box in the contour menu. Thanks in advance
  2. If you use cutter comp in control and not in the computer, with the optimize function off mastercam will program to put a .5 tool in a .380 slot. It will argue a bit, but it will do it, were as if the optimize function is on, it will remove as much material as it can with the size tool that you have. The problem I am having is that when it optimizes it puts in arc moves that are the only .001 or .0015 larger than the radius of the tool. Since we have older machines here some of them don't like making radius moves that are that small IE a .001 radius as the control would see it, If it were bigger say .010 or .015 bigger then I would not have this trouble. The only way I can get buy with it at present is to tell mastercam that the tool is .015 larger than it actually is and then the rad. in the programs will be .0165 or so larger than the rad of the tool and there are no problems. This works fine but I thought there might be an easier way to get around it. Thanks, Clayton
  3. I am working with version 7.2c level one, most of the work we do is flat profile work using off left in the cutter comp check boxes. The problem I have is that when I optimize cutter compensation the program posted out has radii moves that are only .001 larger than the radius of the cutter. Is there a way I can increase the size of the radii or convert it automatically into simple strait line moves in the posted program Thanks in advance, Clayton
  4. Well, that makes two of us, I guess I'll get a new computer....... Maybe I can mess it up too. Thanks for all the help, Clayton
  5. No, I am working on windows 98.
  6. I wasn't trying to make new folders, I was trying to get into one. And when I did the folders got duplicated. I went through the old posts and I did not see anything that I hadn't already been told or I hadn't tried. So I am still at a loss as to what to do next. It wont let me take the components out of the registry and it wont' overwrite them, so it would appear that I am plain flat screwed. I do appreciate the help, you certainly got me further than I was. Thanks, Clayton
  7. Thanks, However I was not succesfull. In fact it wont even let me delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/CNCSOFTWARE ETC ETC... It keeps magicaly reapearing. It shows that it is not in the registry after I delete it but when I close the registry and get back into it after restarting the computer, it is there again. So I tried deleting it one part at a time. The value in the folder 8.0.0.1 would not delete at all. It would give me an error and say that it is not able to delete all of the specified values. I am getting an error when I try to reinstall the demo,it says Component transfer error, component: dummy Why is this such a problem? My computer is only 9 months old or so and is in otherwise perfect working order. Oh, I guess I should point out that the problem I had with the folder procreating also yeilded folders that would not delete. It would tell me that I did not have permission or something like that. Eventually I opened all the folders in explorer and deleted them manualy from the bottom up. In other words when I tried to delete the folder full of folders it wouldn't let me do it, so I sarted deleting from the last folder in the folder and It let me delete them all that way. I dont think the reason the folders duplicated was becase of a shakey mouse hand, In fact the mastercam dealer/instructor/ tech support guy said it was a bug in the program, it wasn't the first time he had seen the problem. But he could not help me solve it. (got to say that that is bad marketing to have the demo crash) Thanks for the help, Clayton [This message has been edited by CRowland (edited 02-27-2001).] [This message has been edited by CRowland (edited 02-27-2001).]
  8. Hi, I have been using the version 8 demo to see if I can justify to my company upgrading to version 8. I had the demo installed on my home pc (windows 98). It worked fine for a short time but then started duplicating the 2d sample folder every time I tried to access it. I thought I would simply uninstall the demo and and reinstall it. However it refused to uninstall. So (and here is were I really screwed up) I decided to delete the program manually from explorer thinking that I would then be able to reinstall the demo and It would overwrite any duplicate hidden files. No such luck, it refused to install and now I am stuck. What can I do to get the demo back on my computer? Thanks in advance.
