  1. No it doesn't have any effect on drills or taps. Go select a drill through the drilling operation. You have picked a 11/64 drill, but need it longer. You were happy with the name of DRILL 11/64, but now when you change the length of the tool the drill gets renamed. Same thing with taps and some other tools. Thanks for posting that up, but I have a number and waiting on a fix like others.

It works with drills and taps for me...

  2. Ah ha.  Thanks to In-house Solutions we have a ... well ... solution.

    - Exit Mastercam

    - Open the stand-alone Tool Manager (You can find this in the start menu under: All Programs, Mastercam 2017).

    - Go to: File - Options - General.

    - Deselect the "Enable auto-naming for assemblies, tools, and holders" option.

    - It takes effect the next time you run Mastercam.

    I tried it.  It works.

  3. Try this...

If it doesn't make your operations dirty then maybe the problem is with my install.

Select the last operation in your machine group by right clicking...

    Select <Edit selected operations> <Edit common parameters...>

In the Edit Common Parameters (Mill/Router) dialogue box select the <Planes> tab.

Change the planes used in that operation to any other plane configuration.

Select <check mark> for that menu.

Select <check mark> for the main menu.

See what happens to your operations.

  4. I am experiencing the exact same problem.  I will just change the plane in one tool-path operation and every operation using that plane in the machine group goes dirty.

The new "Plane Manager" seems to be quite problematic.  At least we can name our planes using lower-case letters now.  Huge improvement.
