    I have the same problem. I actually came on this site just to see if there was a solution to this. My system is quite good so that is not the issue. I also have the same problem opening Word and Excel documents while I have 2 Mastercam sessions open. You're not alone.

    Ah ha. Thanks to In-house Solutions we have a ... well ... solution. - Exit Mastercam - Open the stand-alone Tool Manager (You can find this in the start menu under: All Programs, Mastercam 2017). - Go to: File - Options - General. - Deselect the "Enable auto-naming for assemblies, tools, and holders" option. - It takes effect the next time you run Mastercam. I tried it. It works.

    Why does MC 2017 Change the tool name when you change a parameter such as tool diameter or overall length? This is new to 2017 and is also frustrating...

    Ok K2csq7 I just sent a small sample file now. In this case the plane changed when I opened a mill MC Group. I was unable to change it back.

    Loading different MC definitions doesn't seem to help... If anyone has a solution to this please share as it happens in 2017 also. Thanks,

    Drag and drop drill points from one operation to the next. Really handy after importing operations. Just click "no" to using current depth so that your linking parameters aren't overwritten.

    How do I get that version? Programming with the version I am using is like swimming in tar.

    Well that's the obvious reason that you are getting different results wouldn't you say?

    JParis, I can see we are running different versions of Mastercam. I am running version 17.0.17257.0 When I look for updates I am told I have the latest version. It does seem a little odd. All maintenance is paid.

    It doesn't happen when the file is smaller. I think it may be once it gets a little larger. Don't know if that will help.
