I run MCX2018 - with dongle in pc or it won’t run -I’ve also downloaded MCX 2024 HLE - which runs fine with no dongle - but if I start it up with dongle in it won’t run - is there a way I can start HLE with dongle in - as it’s a nuisance having to remove it every time I start it ?

I’m used to being only 1 using PC for MCX - but I’m about to start sharing - the other person I’m sharing with has MCX set up differently to me - to be able to switch to my own set up easily - do I just save a named config file in my name and load when I want to use ?

I am using Mcam 2018 - I have a saved workspace - I’ve tried using it in HOME LEARNING EDITION 2024 but having no joy - is it possible ?

trying to scan around profile on this part - ive done it succesfully on similar parts - trying to use the end of the ballnose to scan - on this part - it rapids through the component - i need general advice on how to control the tool - so it doesnt hit component - really struggling with 5 axis toolpats using end of tool instead of the side - how can you control it - we also scan centre cylinder to blend - i want tool to act almost like its on a 4th axis - staying pretty square to area its machining etc- any advice ?

I want to scan area I've marked in red (all the way around the flange) if this was in one plane - I would just pick those surfaces and use surface parallel or surface flowline - but I want to scan it in 5 axis with a ballnose - I cant use an endmill on edges as they are not accessible - is there a 5 axis toolpath - I can just pick those surfaces - similar to parallel or flowline - but the output is in 5 axis - so I can complete in one toolpath?, any help appreciated
?
ignore bottom pic-posted by mistake

Thanks - I'll look at it later

is that surface based ?

I'm after a quick point in the right direction for which toolpath to use for a component, i have some experience on 5 axis toolpaths - used swarf on a few occasions - but mostly just do 2/3 axis (position 2 axis - then x,y,z.). The job has various degrees of angled flanges - but for question i'm asking - imagine its square. If i wanted to scan area shown with arrow - i.e. spinning axis rather than x,y & z. or in other words- a surface driven scanning toolpath - which makes my 5 axis machine act more like a 4th axis - any suggestions which 5 axis toolpath to use and i'll have a go with it ?

Running Mastercam 2020 in the UK- our maintenance license has just run out - normally all sorted before it expires - software seems to still run fine and posts the same etc.
My question is - should i expect it to not run at all shortly - or can you run the software exactly the same as before - without updates or support etc. ?? - we have a lot of programming coming up - want to know if this needs sorting immediately or shouldn't really affect us in the short term ?

THANKS- THATS GREAT - I HAD TRIED SOMETHING SIMILAR - BUT I COULDNT GET IT TO WORK - OK NOW

this is effectively a hollow model (sheet) - this is preventing me doing certain modifications to it - that i knoe i could do with a normal solid - thicken would only work on an easy rectangularish shape - any way with this ?
-
HOW DO I TURN A SHEET MODEL INTO A SOLID MODEL ??

does it just copy source files without compromising 2018 version

We are running 2018 - i have just downloaded 2020 and wondered if anybody could help with clear guide as to the best way to migrate from 2018 to 2020, I ideally would like the exact set up I am used too in 2018 - including colour scheme, quick access toolbar - customised main tab etc . I have migrated before - but not sure exactly what is transferable and what you have to configure yourself - the last time i did it was x9- 2018 and dont think 'workspace' is now relevant or if there is a migration wizard. I plan to do a step by step guide for myself for future upgrades - but would welcome an initial guide to point me in the right direction as to what is easy to 'import' settings wise from 2018 and what is not so easy . Any guidance from users who are used to changing would be most welcome.

I really don’t want different users - just want to change to my own settings - but if I import my workspace - it defaults to that - how can you switch between different workspaces easily ?
