  1. I tried the surface, rough, pocket method while picking surface at bottom of pocket that I wanted to machine, with no success. MasterCam claims "unable to determine a valid machining zone". I'm still unsure about the mill level 3 that Thad translated for me. I will continue to check this option out, but any more clarification or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Scot
  2. I'm using version 9.1. The package I have does not include solids. I need to mill several pockets that have islands within the pockets. There are also holes drilled in the bottom of the pockets. I have a converted IGES that has wire frame and surfaces. The method that works best so far is 2D pocket milling, picking chain with plane mask checked in the options. I then select the wire frame geometry inside the pocket. I have been using zigzag toolpath. The tool is jumping all over the place without consistency. Does anyone have a better method or any ideas. Thank You, Scot
  3. Thanks for the help! Thad does have the right stuff. Much Appreciated, Scot
  4. I am using masked arc when drilling holes. Our parts are converted Iges files from Pro-E drawings. When I window the arcs on the part, most of the time only half of the arcs get picked. Even if I window multiple times in different areas, it still won't grab all the wanted arcs. I analyzed the arcs and they are all full arcs that are the same size. Can anyone give me some input on this drilling method. Greatly appreciated. Scot
  5. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sort tools before posting, other than what MasterCam offers inside the operations manager. Are there any vbscripts or chooks that can help? I would like to sort tools drills first, then spot next, etc. before I post. Thanks, Scot

    DRILLING

Thanks Greg; I started experimenting with your help, and it seems like it will benefit our processes. DRILLING

I have the same types of holes that have to be drilled, spotted, and tapped in most all of our parts. These holes all have the same depths. I use the method of machining these repetitive holes by bringing in saved operations. This process still requires many mouse picks. Does anyone know a faster way for setting up toolpaths for the same types of holes in different parts? We don't have the solid options.
