Hello, We are getting into bottom tapping alot of 304 stainless steel 2-64 thru 6-32. The machine has rigid tap. We have checked feeds and speeds, went with a bigger major diameter for drilling. We have tension compression holders coming in on Monday to try out but the bottom taps break right away. A plug tap will work fine except that we cannot achieve the correct depth because of the lead on the tap. Any suggestions? Thanks, rc

Thanks everyone! I went to a 2 fl stub and hit it with the diamond. Finish is almost mirrorlike.

Using 4500 rpm and 12 i.p.m depth of cut is .074 deep. Roughing first and leaving .005 for a finish pass on wall, and floor. Machine is about 6 yrs old.

I also went up on the concentrate also. Still getting chatter, and a poor finish.

Having trouble with milling half hard brass using an 1/8" endmill. I've tried every brand in the MSC catalog. Tried 2 fl, 3 fl, 4fl in every manufacturer in carbide, and every speed and feed combination. The parts are for electronic/microwave application, and must have a 16 or better finish with no chamfer or radii in the corners.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone out there had a neat program for a upcoming open house we have coming up at our shop. We are going to have our machining center running for it and could use some help and or ideas. Maybe something that kids can relate to.

James I just tried it and nothing imports in? What am I doing wrong? I select a file then check create center path, but no preview comes up and geometry is 0.

HI Gang! I need to copy a customer logo and engrave it on a housing. I've scanned the image and saved it as a bmp file. Is they're any way to import it into Mastercam? Thanks in advance, Bob

We use Autocad LT 2000 when I try to import a DXF everything imports in arcs, circles, text, but no lines. Any advice? This just started to happen recently. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone give me any tips to engrave text witk all lowercase letters? When I do a true type font I really just want the centerline path. When I choose the box type selection it does it all in capitals? Thanks in advance
