  1. "What works for me is to create the initial Top View using the WCS, then as I need to I create T/C Planes ALWAYS keeping the created top view WCS active when creating toolpaths....one file so I can Verify the whole part."

I use this same process and it works great for me too.

  2. if you are running v9. or higher, check c-hooks, there is one called tpcfg.dll. this c-hook has a checkbox for flats in 3d contours. enable it and you'll get a new box called flats in you're 3-d contour parameters page and mcam will finish flat levels w/in your boundaries

  3. I was unaware of the saftey zone feature. thanks for that tip, programs run fine, I just wanted that warm fuzzy feeling before I turned that old beast lose on its first 4-axis job with a fifty-thousand dollar high speed head attached to it with i post i just made for its ancient controller. thanks for the input guys. cheers.gif

  4. i'm writing some 4-axis toolpaths for an old horizontal we have, and on backplot and verify on from retract to next position it shows tool going thru part. I posted a couple to check and they actually move correctly. Anyone know a way to get a good visual?

  5. I'm asked this ? yesterday and got no response, but i figured it was worth another shot. i've seen alot of talk about unrolling geometry for 4-axis rotary work. Is this possible with a part shape that has a highly faceted suface (748)? are there any advantages to turning surface into a solid for 4-axis work? if anyone is curios my file is in ftp mc9/g_4-axis_roll.mc9. any input would be Greatly appreciated.

    thanks guys

  6. my shop does alot of surface work, but we recently recieved a round part part the boss wants to run on our 4-axis horizontal. Is there an easy way to rough this part using multiaxis toolpaths? I uploaded my file to mc9/g_4-axis_roll.mc9. Any advice would be appreciated.

  7. I work in a shop with three seats of mc9.2. We are experiencing a problem with one machine warping one quadrant of the geometry even though it doesn't show in toolpath or verify it shows in part. Anyone out there experienced anything like this? I've reinstalled everything, but to no avail. My mc9 file is on ftp site as "curve_problem_14b-1.mc9"

  8. I use the same version mc91 sp1 at home and work.

virtually the same computers only difference is work is windows 2000 and home is xp. I loaded file 13a-1_rough_pl_fxt.mc9 to the mcam_9 folder on thr ftp site. The path runs almost any way i set it at home, but at work i get a mill9.exe error everytime it generates. I even tried regening same path from home with absolutly no changes and got same error. any input would be greatly appreciated

  9. mastercam 9.1 will not run on my windows nt 4.0 system. i get access exception on start up from dr. watson. i have applied patch from website, but to no avail. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks
