  1. anyone out there familiar with roeders machines or a default .pst that is a good starting point for customization?

  5. Jay, i'm uploading my file now its in mc9/g_4-axis_roll.mc9 it'll probably take a little while to finish though. Any help you can give would be most appeciated. thanks
  6. if you are running v9. or higher, check c-hooks, there is one called tpcfg.dll. this c-hook has a checkbox for flats in 3d contours. enable it and you'll get a new box called flats in you're 3-d contour parameters page and mcam will finish flat levels w/in your boundaries

I was unaware of the saftey zone feature. thanks for that tip, programs run fine, I just wanted that warm fuzzy feeling before I turned that old beast lose on its first 4-axis job with a fifty-thousand dollar high speed head attached to it with i post i just made for its ancient controller. thanks for the input guys.
  8. i'm writing some 4-axis toolpaths for an old horizontal we have, and on backplot and verify on from retract to next position it shows tool going thru part. I posted a couple to check and they actually move correctly. Anyone know a way to get a good visual?

  11. I'm asked this ? yesterday and got no response, but i figured it was worth another shot. i've seen alot of talk about unrolling geometry for 4-axis rotary work. Is this possible with a part shape that has a highly faceted suface (748)? are there any advantages to turning surface into a solid for 4-axis work? if anyone is curios my file is in ftp mc9/g_4-axis_roll.mc9. any input would be Greatly appreciated. thanks guys
  12. my shop does alot of surface work, but we recently recieved a round part part the boss wants to run on our 4-axis horizontal. Is there an easy way to rough this part using multiaxis toolpaths? I uploaded my file to mc9/g_4-axis_roll.mc9. Any advice would be appreciated.
  13. Sandvik makes a coromat style inserted endmill especially for alumunum. We run an 1 1/2" and a 2" at 8000rpm and 390ipm .300 d.o.c. and it eats aluminum for breakfast
