  1. This is management/customer driven. Not my choice.
  2. We have the nci2apt option to convert the apt source. What can we do with the nci once it's in m.cam? Can we edit parameters etc, like a regular toolpath? Thanks for all reply's Jon
  3. After importing an NCI file,is there a way to associate geometry to it,and can any post be used to post out? We have access to toolpath from catia,we'd like to find a way to get it into Mastercam(V9.1),and it's possible we can take catia's apt file, and convert it to a M.Cam NCI file. Has anybody else tried to get native toolpath from a different cam system into M.cam?
  4. When importing operations in v9 mastercam,I'm losing the name of the tplane/cplane,and also the names of the levels. When creating the operations to save, they where associated to a tplane with a unique name, and the geometry was on a level, with a name.It seems the operation import is not bringing these names across, when I import into a new file. Any ideas? Thanks, Jon Guck (This did work in V8)
  5. How can I change the filename extension when posting. The extension can be changed in the post dialogue box,but I'd like to change it so it automatically comes up with the extension we'd like.Iv'e looked in the config section, under nc settings, but this area is ghosted. Thanks Jon

    WCS

Has anyone used the new wcs for any 5ax positioning,or simultaneous work? Our 5ax post seems very dependent on how the toolpath is oriented to the top tool plane.I am not coming up with the correct rotations, and it seems I will still have to move the geometry so the part is more "normal" to the top tool plane. Thanks, Jon
  7. (v8.1.1) When merging files,is it possible to have geometry and operations come in? We are trying to have two people program the same part, then take the two files and merge them together, having all the levels come in where they were created, and have operations come in,and maintain association to the geometry. Thanks, Jon
  8. Anybody get a chance to work with beta 3 yet? I have been trying out the new WCS and I'm able to get the orientation & origin set correctly to a part that's out in space,at odd angles to the Top tool-plane,but can't get it to post work-offsets.Only posts G91.I even made a toolpath in V8 and it posted G54 etc..brought the file into V9,and posted. At first it posted G54,then I did a regen, posted again, now it's G91. Anybody seen anything similiar? Thanks Jon
  9. Worked great Mark H DOS can still do some things Bill Gates has yet to figure out!
  10. I know this is'nt mcam related, but Does anyone know how to print a directory structure to a file in DOS? I.E ,if I have 5 files in a directory,I want to create a text file with those 5 file names listed in it.I've seen this done before, but cannot remember the commands,etc.. Thanks Jon
  11. We've used vericut on 3,4,& 5 ax for about 6 years now. Very powerful,if you have all the data entered exactly as it is at the machine (i.e gage lengths, fixture models etc.) But once again,it's alot of data input, to get extensive results out of vericut. Jon
  12. Yes,it is setup for 4ax index & simultaneous. It seems there's some setting that has to be changed though. The tool makes the initial B axis position, then the rest of the code is 3ax milling.
  13. I have created a toolpath using curve 5ax, with the 4ax output checked. I am not getting any "B" axis movement when I post it though. It seems the path is correct,I notice the tool vector changing. Is there a switch in the post I'm missing? Thanks Jon
  14. Is there a way in Mcam V8.1.1 to save some default settings? I would like to have my job setup screen / toolpath config have cetain boxes checked by either, running a macro to change the settings,or have the settings change by running a custom .OP8 file I would also like to have cetain customized toolplanes loaded by the same method. I have tried to record a macro to do both, but the key-strokes do not seem to record. Thanks, Jon
  15. How can I eliminate rapid moves between geomtery chains in 2d contour? (V8.1.1) I have 3 arcs, all on the same Z level. I would like to arc in,mill around the arc, then arc out,and move in to the next arc, with no rapid move out in the Z,or no rapid in the X,Y. Just feed move to the next arc. Thanks..
