It did work as: if scomm ="", do_something. I will set up and use a null string variable. As you can tell, I'm pretty new to this stuff. I won't be sdummy for long. Thanks for your help! I'm really happy this forum is around! Jerry

I have the switches in the post as such: fastmode : 0 bug2 : 30 bug3 : 0 bug4 : 1 whatno : yes an example of the output is: %O1361 pheader 168 What is the number 168 all about?????!? Thanks, Jerry
