    Engraving

I am looking to engrave letters into a part. Also I need to make a slot and right now I have to xform the line over half the distance of the endmill so it is in the right position. You can have it cut to the left of the line or the right of the line, but how do you tell it to cut with the center of the tool.
  2. This is probably an easy question, but i just can't figure it out. What command do you use to write a toolpath for engraving? I have done it with project, but there has to be a better way. Any info on how to engrave would be great.
  3. hello again, I am making wheel hubs for my atv and I need to make an internal spline to match up with the axle. Have you guys ever had to put a spline on a part? What is the easiest way to create an internal spline? The Alxe OD is about an inch. Do they make a broach for this, if so do you know where to get one? Is there any way to machine it in? Any input would be great.
  4. I tried a few of those sites they are great. why is it that when I change the material in the job setup it always gives me the same feedrate of 6.14 no matter if I tell it I am cutting aluminum of stainless steel?
  5. I will try to back this my last question for a while. I have been picking your brains a lot lately. Does anyone know how to get a more acurate time a part will take to machine? When I run the Post processor for a small simple aluminum part it tells me it will take 2 hours. For the heck of it i put the feed down to 1 and then up to 300 and i still got the same result plus or minus a couple minutes. Also does anyone know where to get a good feed and speed calculator? I have owned a laser and Waterjet machining company for the past 5 years. Now I am looking to pick up a couple VMC's. Before that I was programing VMC's at another company and we were running mastercam version 6, so I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I enrolled in a local college to refresh my memory but it is just going way too slow. Any help would be great.
  6. You guys have been a lot of help and I thank you for that. What is the best post processor for the fadal 4020? Do you need to make any adjustment to the program?
  7. Does anyone know anything about the Fadal EMC. I am looking into it whereas I will be doing all aluminum work that is no bigger that 15" x 10. Any input would be greatly appreciated. [ 09-16-2003, 08:56 PM: Message edited by: tonyb ]
  8. thank you for answering my problem. I have now conrrected the problem
  9. Sorry for using all caps. guess I didn't read FAQ's. Can you by post from Mastercam? I am just trying to understand how this all works. Thanks Guys.
  10. At my college we use MASTERCAM V9. when I go to change the post it only gives me 2 to choose from, MPFAN.PST AND RPFAN.PST. I want to be able to run a program in a fadal at my job. How come there are only 2 post? Can I get a Fadal post somewhere? Can you use a post from version 6? Do you know what other machines these 2 post are for? PLEASE HELP ME.
