  2. HI GUY'S, I WOULD NORMALLY DO A SEARCH, BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME RIGHT NOW. MY QUESTION, I AM TRYING TO WRITE A ROUGH POCKET CUTTERPATH AND ITS GIVING ME A NOTE SAYING "BAD TRIM SURFACE." I'VE SEEN THE SURFACE, AND THE SURFACE IS FINE. IS THERE A WAY TO BYPASS THIS WARNING SO THAT MY CUTTERPATH CAN PROCESS OR DO I HAVE TO REWORK THE SURFACE? confused.gif

  4. My tol. was 0.005. I was told to up my roughing tolerance to eliminate the cutter from jumping around when turning any corners.

Mayday- yes I am surface machining. My roughing cutter was a 1" bull with 0.062" rads and finishing cutter was 1/4" ball.

I am thinking that it could be that I never left enough stock when roughing.

  5. I ran a finishing program after my roughing program, as the mat'l I was cutting is quite soft. I had left 0.01" on and it didn't clean up. This has happened before, but usually happens in contour programs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this might have happened and how I might go about eliminating this problem?

  6. A couple questions regarding shallow finishes.

1)Is it okay to use a flat endmill for this type of finish?

2)I don't fully understand what the slope identifies. I know obviously it deals with angles, but to be more specific, does it mean that the bottom of the part is 0 deg. and the top would be 90 deg. I'm sorry if how it's explained is difficult to understand. If so let me know.

I am asking this because alot of people in the forum seem to swear by this cutterpath. Thanks

  7. I took a look in the search department of things, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Just a quick question about having to drill different z heights. Is there a way of doing that in one program or do I have to split them up according to the different plane heights? confused.gif

  8. Hello

Just wanting to know if anyone can assist with this problem. The part was originaly surfaced in Cadkey and was made 1full surface. I modified the surfaces into multiple sections to help me out.

Anyways's I put it on the FTP site as "notch end." I'm looking for an outside rad, so I've already turned the normals to the proper side (I'm pretty sure). It keeps giving me a distorted fillet and I can't seem to see where I'm going wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. confused.gif

  9. Hi, I've got a quick question about changing my construction plane onto an entity. It gives you the option to pick a flat entity, 2 lines, or 3 points. Picking the flat entity works, but how do you pick the two lines, or the 3 points? Now I know it sounds self explanatory, but when i go to pick on either the lines or points (I've also trie confused.gif d putting mask on) it just tells me that the entity isn't flat. Any suggestion's?

  10. Is there any way to remove uncut material from a toolpath in verify so that you can see the material that you cut, as you can only make square stock sizes. I have tried making another toolpath to machine away the uncut stock but would like to know if there is another way of doing this

  11. A quick question about putting overbend on parts, as we are having a disagreement on this. Ex. You have to planes that would create an intersection and a rad in between the two connecting them. Do you bend from the center of the rad, from the top tangent of the rad, or from the bottom of the rad?

I'll put it in the FTP site under overbend. cheers.gif
