You are right about saving NCI files Glen; my bad. Also, models are not being left shaded, so that is ruled out. Ramsaver was ran, does not impact file size significantly. The issues I am trying to address are: 1. best allocation amounts -vs- system RAM 2. how Mastercam uses this memory allocated; Seems that no matter how much is allocated, MC will use whatever it wants from windows anyway. 3. trying to keep my system from locking up while processing pathes overnight unattended. I have a file in Mastercam MR0304 that contains roughing , finishing and re-machining paths. The file size has ballooned up to 106Mb (19Mb with no toolpaths). I have been saving NCI files for all my pathes, which I know increases file size immensely, but that is the way I want to do it. The file is locking up while adding a final path to it, and I am assuming that it is a memory issue after tests were don removing "unnecessary" geometry and deleting NCI files. The Windows Taskbar shows memory usage jumping as high as 1.7Gb (computer has 1Gb memory installed, with 4,025Mb swap allocated). Questions: 1) what should my Toolpath and Database memory amounts be in the Allocation section of the Configuration Menu to run optimally (currently each are set at 256,000Kb)? 2) will adding more memory to the PC help, or will Mastercam use it efficiently enough to make a difference?
